Lavatory Mirror Scribblers

Last week there were two incidents where apparent pranksters scrawled notes on lavatory mirrors. An America West [LLC] jet made an emergency landing at Kansas City after a passenger discovered a note that said, "Taliban is here." The next day, a handwritten bomb threat was found in the lavatory of a Continental Airlines [CAL] jet at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Perhaps what is needed is some psychological warfare. The FAA could let it leak that closed circuit television cameras are being set up to take a still photo of the lavatory mirror and exiting passengers each time the toilet door is opened from the inside. Whether true or not, it would (if the rumor was circulated widely enough) deter individuals from leaving messages on mirrors. There would be a record of who left which toilet at which time, leaving the next passenger to make the shocking "discovery."
