Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has grounded Sosoliso Airlines and Chanchangi Airlines, Nigeria's largest. The first carrier was grounded in the wake of an accident that killed all but three aboard. The second carrier was apparently grounded due to a report that it's unsafe. Meanwhile, the BBC reports that so far this year, there have been 15 fatal accidents in Africa (killing 390), and in 2004 a quarter of all accidents worldwide occurred in Africa, although the region accounts for only 4.5 percent of global traffic.
