Green Skies Conference set for May
Green Skies Conference & Exhibition will occur May 21-23 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, bringing aviation together on a large scale for the first time in North America to discuss aviation environmental issues.
The theme of this year's conference is "Proud to be Green." The event will showcase some of the green developments within North American aviation, with perspectives from around the world. In attendance will be environmental companies, airlines, airports, aircraft manufacturers, maintenance companies, suppliers, government agencies and industry organizations.
The goal of the conference is to promote a dialog among all the stakeholders across the industry that leads to better environmental efforts, and also to prove that there are real savings to be made from embracing these principles.
"There is an enormous interest in this event, and it's coming from all corners of aviation," said Green Skies CEO Michael Miller.
Green Skies has put forward a voluntary Green Skies Pledge (www.greenskies.com) to encourage companies to adopt more extensive environmental guidelines. The pledge is a 15-point list of broad environmental statements that help companies and organizations determine which green approaches make sense.

Cayman Fly In Revived
After a long hiatus, the Cayman Fly In has been revived and scheduled for June 6-10. The group will launch from Key West for the 330 nm adventure which includes not only international flying but five days-four nights and Cuban over-flight privileges
“This will be a fully escorted yet very affordable flying experience” according to organizer Jim Parker of Caribbean Flying Adventures. “The Caymans may be only 2.5 hrs at 130 kts from the Florida Keys, straight south over Cuba, but when we land, we will be in a different country and culture.” Pilots will be provided with documents, charts, Cuban permits, safety gear, discounted hotel rates, help with Cayman’s and U.S. customs. Caribbean Flying Adventures is coordinating with the FAA, Cuba’s Civil Aviation Authority, the Cayman’s Department of Tourism, Cayman Civil Aviation and Cayman Airports Authority to make this Fly In a success.
