23 May 1505L Minneapolis St Paul 747-400 of NWA Flt: 19 Electrical power failed on take-off. Pilot aborted and returned to the gate. Nil Maint gave up trying to fix it after pax sat 4hrs without power or aircon.
25 May Vancouver, Canada A321-211 of Air Canada C-GJWN ACA105 crew rec'd numerous smoke alarms but no smk - so cont'd to dest. Nil Lavatory. A smoke alarm replaced.
29 May 2235Z Halifax Nova Scotia Canada BAe146-200 of Air Canada's Jazz Air #4 eng flamed out on left base turning final to r/way 33 at 180kts. Landed after completing recall items on final. Nil Overspeed protection system shorted internally at connector P52 & voltage leaked to fuel bypass/shutoff valve.
30 May 1110Z Hamilton, Ontario MD-83 of JetsGo C-FKLZ JGO934 diverted in for an overweight landing with a pitch-trim problem. Nil Primary longitudinal trim system motor failure (CB had popped).
31 May 2110Z Sudbury, Ontario Beech100 of Thunder Air Flt THU101 declared an emerg with smoke and diversion to nearby Wawa. Nil C-FASB crew then reptd a vent blower tripped breaker - & cont'd to Sudbury.
01 June 2118Z Miami, Fla. A320-211 of Air Canada C-FKCR F/A found a paper on fire behind #1 galley and extinguished it with towels. Nil Alerted by smoke and burning paper smell. Oven checked out OK.
01 June 0500Z Kigali Intl., Rwanda AN32 of Sun Air Charter 9XR-SN Diverted to Kigali after left gear failed to retract on t/off. Crashed & burnt. 12 ser inj 12 o/b Benin to Goma in the Congo. Crash caused by hvy landing on dmgd gear.
01 June 1150L Brescia, Italy 737 of Astreus Reg: G-STRD Gear & tire damage after impact with a 21m high mast near r'way threshold. Nil ILS calibration van with tall antenna atop had been "misplaced" by ATC.
01 June JFK New York MD-11 of Finnair Aircraft's port engine damaged by ground equipment at the gate. Nil AY-006 landed 13 hrs late in Helsinki.
01 June 0800Z Las Vegas, Nev. Lear 35 of Sunwest C-GVVA Strong smell of smoke on descent and left nacelle heat CB found tripped. Nil Insulation around wing bleed air cross-tube in the cabin was later found burnt.
03 June 04 Charlottetown, Calif. A319-114 of Air Canada C-FYJG Revt'd to raw data for 2nd ILS appch after twice experiencing "map-shift." Nil Problem with cockpit depiction of inst appch plate for ILS runway 03.
03 June Florence, Italy BAe146-300 of Flightline G-BPNT hard ground contact during a missed approach/overshoot/go-round. Nil / crew only Severely damaged lower fuselage (on arr from Southend UK for a charter).
04 June 1130L Dublin, Ireland A330 of Aer Lingus EI-JFK EI105 bound NY (JFK) returned following a fire warning on board. Nil No further details on this A330-301 incident.
05 June 0001L Stansted, UK 737 of EasyJet Reg: G-IGOZ Flt from Venice had nose-gear collapse on landing after a violent shimmy. Nil Failure of NLG upper torsion link attachment (TCAS antenna smashed).
05 June 0650L Philadelphia, Pa. A320-214 of USA 3000 Landed with smoke in the cabin. Nil Supposedly an inflight diversion. Other sources claim fire "indication."
05 June Naha A/P, Okinawa 747 of JAL Flt: JL717 Sparking in cabin ceiling, smoke & smell caused an emergency diversion. Nil / 223 o/b Bangkok to Narita, Japan (diverted two hours into flight) -- due fluorescent light ballast?
06 June Astana, Kazakhstan Fokker 50 of Air Astana Engine shutdown after a warning indication and a/c returned to land. Nil No further details.
07 June 2222L Boston, Mass. DO328-300 of Delta N424FJ Fuel truck struck port wing whilst a/c parked & unmanned at Terminal C. Nil No further details. Minor damage.
07 June early morn Sydney, Australia Dash 8 of QANTAS Newcastle NSW bound flight diverted after engine failed and fog rolled in. Nil / 31 pax Melbourne-Newcastle.
07 June morning Seattle-Tacoma, Wash. 737-900 of Alaskan Returned Seattle after an hour outbound -- with smoke in the cockpit. Nil / 165 pax Flight 8 bound for Newark, N.J.
08 June Libreville, Gabon HS748 of Gabon Express TR-LFW Ditched at sea & sank during turnback attempt after exp a propeller problem. 19 fatal / 29 o/b 10 rescued with varying degrees of injury (Libreville to Franceville).
08 June 0945L Hong Kong, China 747-400 of Cathay Ret'd 75 mins after t/off following fuel dump (eng surged just after airborne). Nil / 331 pax Flt CX251. Arrived Heathrow 3hrs 15mins late.
08 June 0857L Manchester, UK 777-200 of PIA U/carriage "burst into flames" after pulling up at Terminal 2. Nil U/carriage of a 2nd PIA 777 caught fire later at 1113L at the same terminal. A 3rd PIA 777 was involved in a similar fire last month. UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch is looking into all three.
08 June Cotonou, Benin F28 of Air Ivoire Blew tires on landing and could not be moved off the runway. 1 inj Cotonou A/P closed 24 hours because of nil capacity to move or repair a/c.
08 June Billings, Mont. DC-10 of NWA Flt: 923 Diverted Billings Logan with smoke in the cargo hold. Nil / 294 o/b Minneapolis St Paul to Honolulu --KULR8 TV reported "wiring smoking."
09 June 1240L Hamburg, Germany Dash 8 of SAS Engine shut down after indications of fire & Flight SK606 diverted Hamburg. Nil / 50 pax Zurich - Stockholm (OY-KCG evac'd on runway).
