13 April daytime Haydom, Tanzania C208 Caravan of MAF 5H-ZBZ Landing accident in thunderstorm. A/c ran off r/way into undergrowth. Nil Missionary Aviation Fellowship a/c. Substantial damage. Headed for Moshi.
04 May daytime Madras, India 727-200 of Transmile Airline Fuel tank in left wing exploded while a/c was being towed to maintenance. Nil APU believed to have been running. NTSB go team / Boeing investigating.
05 May Berlin Tegel a/p EMB145 of BA Connect On taxi-out, missed taxiway to 08R & tried 180-degree turn, ending up off taxiway & bogged at 90 degrees. Nil Steering deflection limited to 50 degrees _ pre-mod SB 145-32-0002 instead of normally available 76 degrees.
07 May Bagotville, Canada 767 of United Flt UA921 Diverted & landed at CFB Bagotville with smoke in cockpit. Nil / 125 pax Heathrow to Washington (Dulles) diverted to CFB (north of Quebec).
16 May JFK a/p, N.Y. 767-400 of Delta Gear dropped into construction pit while turning from taxiway Alpha. Nil A380 taxiway widening project. Tires burst, flight cancelled (no tires avail).
16 May 1040L Morristown, N.J. Falcon 2000 Reg N18MV Struck flock of geese on departure and returned w/ RH engine damage. Nil Owner: Short Hills Aviators.
18 May Manila, Philippines 777-300 of Emirates During a U-turn line-up maneuver for takeoff, nose gear rolled off paved surface and became stuck in mud. Nil / 427 pax + 15 crew Minor damage. Crews suggest that Manila a/p taxiways are deficient and narrow. Pilots often opt for towing.
18 May 1427L Fairbanks, Alaska MD80 of Alaskan Flt AS99 N949AS scraped RH wing on runway 19R during landing & went around. Nil / 140 pax Arriving from Anchorage. Minor damage to lights and under-surface.
18 May San Salvador A320 of TACA Flt TA350 Flt TA350 experienced hydraulic failure 2 hrs into flight & returned. Nil Headed to Los Angeles, returned to Comalapa Airport, San Salvador.
18 May 0745L Myrtle Beach, S.C. Shorts 330 of Air Cargo Carriers N937MA made gear-up landing on 18, closing airport for ~ two hours Nil / 2 o/b Substantial damage.
19 May 1359Z Teterboro, N.J. Gulfstream 4 Reg N844GF Struck birds on departure damaging #2 (starboard) engine. Landed back. Nil Unknown damage.
19 May mid day RNZAF Whenuapai 757 of RNZAF VIP Squadron A/c held to burn off fuel due to left engine shutdown prior to landing. Nil / 6 o/b Upon arriving Auckland from Hamilton, N.Z., at 1100 hrs.
20 May ~1130L Henri Coanda, Bucharest, Rom. DC-8 of MIA Airlines Romania Emergency landing Otopeni Airport after debilitating hydraulic failure. Nil Routing Baneasa, Romania, to Reykjavik, Iceland (then to Canada).
20 May ~0830L Colo. Springs, Colo. MD83 of American Flt 1157 Pilot declared emergency and dvtd into Colo. Springs on one eng. Nil / 141 o/b Dallas-Seattle flight pax had 8 hr delay awaiting replacement a/c.
21 May Manchester, U.K. 737 of Helios Flt HCY247 Pilot's windscreen cracked passing FL220 in climb & a/c diverted MAN. Nil Newcastle to Larnaca, Cyprus.
21 May ~2058Z Ft Lauderdale, Fla. Beech1900D of Cntntl Connection RH gear of N69549 collapsed on landing runway 9L, damage rt wing. Nil / 22 pax + 3 crew Flt CO9137 arr from San Andros Is, Bahamas. Suffered substantial damage.
21 May Kenai, Alaska Twin Otter of Era Aviation DHC-6 Twin Otter completed 45 min flight from Anchorage on one engine. Nil / 18 Gage failure.
22 May Eket, Nigeria Beech 1900D of Mobil Producing Explosion rocked an engine just prior to landing at Eket's Mobil Airstrip. Nil / 19 o/b Arrival from Lagos with 17 committee members of PENGASSAN Oil Assn.
22 May 2100Z Hallo Bay, Alaska DHC-2 Beaver of Andrew Airways N1543 floatplane crashed near small island 75 miles NW of Kodiak City. 5 inj / 6 o/b Two C130s dropped life rafts within 20 mins.Tore pontoon up in rough seas.

23 May afternoon Geneva Switzerland S-3B Viking of USN Diverted by radar svc into Geneva after declaring emerg for c'pit smoke Nil / 4 o/b En route from Middleton, UK, to Sigonella, Italy, at flight level 250.
24 May Gatwick, U.K. A320 of Thomas Cook Declared mayday & diverted after pressurization problems @ FL310. Nil / 180 pax From Manchester, U.K., to Mahon in Menorca, Balearic Islands, Spain.
24 May 1045L Southend, U.K. Fokker 50 of VLM Airlines (?) Emerg divert & landing with electrical problem and cockpit fumes. Nil / 20 pax Possibly VLM Airlines F50 headed for London City Airport.
24 May ~1600L Savusavu, Fiji EMB120 of Air Fiji A/c veered off runway into airport perimeter fence and ditch on landing. 1 inj / 11 o/b A/c badly damaged.
24 May 1822L Sao Tom鼯font> DHC-6-300 of Air Sao Tom鼯font> S9-BAL crashed into Gulf of Guinea about mile offshore during trg flight. 2 pax & 2 crew dead One body recovered.
24 May 0500Z Mosstown, Bahamas Westwind 1124 of AirTrek Ltd Reg N475AT declared emergency with electrical problem & diverted. 1 inj / 8 o/b San Juan, P.R., for Punta Gorda, Fla., diverted to Mosstown a/p, Bahamas.
24 May 0830L Amritsar, India 747-400 of Air India Brakes & tires caught fire during "hot" landing at Raja Sansi airport. Nil / ~200 pax Air India Flt 187 Delhi-Amritsar-Toronto had ten hour delay.
24 May St Louis EMB145 of Delta Connection Aircraft diverted into St. Louis with smoke emergency in cabin. Nil / 36 o/b Flt 6256 Cincinnati to St. Louis [op by Chautauqua Air].
24 May Lashkar Gha, Afgh C130 of RAF Tire burst on landing, wheels caught fire and aircraft burnt out totally. Some inj / 27 o/b Destroyed by fire in southern Helmand Province. British ambassador aboard.
