29 Apr Kinshasa Congo Beech 1900C of AVIREX Gabon TF-LFQ written off while landing in a thunderstorm. Unknown Pax were AirFrance crew being positioned for flt ex LibreVille.
01 May Regina Sakatchewan A320-211 of Air Canada C-FLSF At 1625Z Slats failed to ext on appch with flap selection. Nil RH slats actuator overload indicator found tripped and was repl after ldg.
02 May 1104Z Toronto Ca for Newark NJ DC-9-83 C-GKLC of Corporation Jetsgo JGO200 decl emerg at 7000ft on dept with smoke and re-landed. Nil Dept 1101Z and landed 112Z. Capt's primary flight display flared bright, failed and blue smoke emanated.
03 May Atlanta-Hartsfield MD-11 of Delta Flt: DAL128 Baggage cart hit eng #3 causing minor damage. Nil / 237 on board A/c parked at the gate.
03 May Southend UK 707-321C of Air Omega EL-AKJ Teenage arsonists set a fire in cockpit of stored a/c. Nil A/c damaged beyond repair.
04 May Amsterdam (Schipol) 737 of Aer Lingus Flt: EI661 Vienna-Dublin flt made emerg landing AMS after pax breathing problems enroute. Nil Leaking substance in overhead locker cause nauseating fumes in cabin.
04 May over Fort Chipewyan Alb A340-313 of Air Canada Reg: C-GDVW ACA851 galley produced smoke from hotplates and circuit breaker was pulled. Nil Heathrow-Calgary. CB collared after landing (until investigation able to be conducted).

05 May 1929L Buffalo NY PA23-250 Aztec of NorthEast Avn Flt 606 hit windshear on late finals and crashed, collapsing gear and causing small fire. Nil Cargo flt fm Poughkeepsie. Wind 160/16 gusting 19kts for landing r/way 23.
06 May 0620Z Hamilton -Winnipeg Ca 727-223 of CargoJet Awys Flt: CJT500 ATC adv that crew heard banging noises from hold and that a UPS handler had failed to punch out after his shift. Nil Crew descended and on landing Winnipeg, hold proved to be clear of cargo-handlers. Loose metallic cargo in container found however.

08 May night Kinshasa N'Djili-Lubumbashi (Southern Katanga Province) IL-76 freighter of Ukraine AirForce (Milcharter to Congolese Army) Reportedly up to 200 unrestrained pax were sucked out of a/c when rear doors blew open at height. Crew landed back at Kinshasa. 08 May Boston Mass. Canadair Regional Jet CJ65 N484CA Struck by belt-loader on ramp causing substantial damage. Nil 9x15 in hole in pressure vessel near cargo door (2 stringers damaged).
09 May 1950L Rome Georgia CRJ of Comair Flt: 5491 Atlanta-Huntsville flt landed Rome Ga after a fire broke out in rear lavatory in climb. Nil / 48 pax & 3 crew FBI investigation is underway at Richard B Russell Regional Airport. Tackled by F/A with extinguisher.
10 May 1400L Nashville TN 737 of SWA N511SW SWA1324 hit blast fence in ramp area during taxi-in. Nil / 50 pax Pax deplaned at incident site. Extent of RH wing damage unknown.
11 May Toronto Ca Learjet 35A of Keewatin Air C-GAJS reported smoke after dept and immed re-landed. Nil Bermuda-bound flt deptd 2005Z and landed 2012Z.
11 May San Francisco Intl 757 of UAL Flt: UAL33 Bag loaded with electronic test equipt exploded during load aboard Hawaii-bound flight. Nil / 180 pax 1 att inj Non-security incident (equipt understood pressurized). Bag-handler's eyebrows singed.
12 May 0830 Ben Gurion Israel-Prague 737 of CSA Czech Airlines Pilot took off empty (after waiting almost 3 hrs for go-slow workers). Nil Left 30 pax stranded in Tel Aviv - departed with disembarking pax luggage still in hold.
14 May am hrs Lanseria SA DC-9 of Sunair ZS-NRB lost RH engine after t/off, landed at Jan Smuts A/P. Nil Earlier in the day had maint carried out on RH engine at Johannesburg.
15 May 0800Z Zakythnos Gr ATR-72 of Olympic Airways Engine fire on the runway during crew training flight. Nil A/c stuck, runway closed, flts diverted to Corfu. A/F open 1400Z.
