23 March Tokyo-Ube Japan 767-300 of All Nippon 50 y.o. captain grounded after being twice awaken by onboard CAA official. Nil / 80 o/b Copilot claiming command time after stop-watching both taps on shoulder.
01 April approx Perth West Aust 767 of Royal Brunei Perth - Darussalam (Brunei) flight returned Perth with engine failure. Nil Engine failure at top of climb.
12 April Istanbul, Turkey A340-313 of Turkish Airlines A/c gassed after 40 squirrels escaped from crate enroute from Beijing. 4 squirrels gassed Only 4/40 "dead" animals were located onboard.
15 April Seville, Spain 737-4YO of Air Europa Birdstrikes after take-off caused an uncontained engine failure. Nil Reg: EC-IRA
18 April Mid-Pacific 737-700 of Boeing delivery Enrt China, a/c N60669 sustained an inflight fire (quickly extinguished). Nil ASPAC Communications Inc. box - Chinese initiative to incorporate inflight wireless Internet access. Hot stuff - in fact, quite inflammatory.
23 April 0500Z Shannon, Ireland 777 of AA Flight: 122 2 Canadian men arrested after air rage diversion. -Banned from flying for 2yrs. Nil NY (JFK) to London Heathrow flight. Ordered to pay AA restitution of �20K.
23 April Luxembourg Fokker 50 of Luxair Returned to Luxembourg with one propeller feathered. Nil No further details.
23 April Orlando, Fla. 737 of SWA Flight: 821 A bomb-threat note was found during taxi-out so a/c returned for search. Nil / 126 o/b Departed 2.5 hrs later (FBI has leads, left between pages of a magazine).
23 April 0030Z San Antonio ,Texas Beech 18 of Beechnut, Inc. N666AK tail-gear collapsed on landing during freighter ops. Nil / 2 o/b Victoria, Texas, for San Antonio, Texas.
26 April approx Ujung Padang, Indonesia 757 of Royal Brunei Diverted in after engine oil pressure fell during ferry Auckland to BWN. Nil BWN = Darussalam A/P, Brunei
26 April 0810L Belfast, N.Ireland BAe146 of FlyBe Flt: BE400 5 handlers & 1 fireman hospitalized after mercury spill found in the hold. 6 hosp / 88 o/b Flight arrived from Birmingham. A/c is now under maintenance quarantine for checks.
26 April a.m. hrs Bakersfield, Calif CRJ of America West Flt: 6231 Diverted to Meadows Field 10,587ft long runway for its no-flap landing. Nil Phoenix-San Luis Obispo flight (S.L.O. runway only 5,300 ft. long).
26 April 0700Z Melo, Uruguay Fokker F27 of FedEx Initially asked for Carrasco Intl Montevideo but landed in Melo near the Brazilian Frontier - well ablaze. 3 hosp / 3 o/b Campinas Brazil to Buenos Aires (flight originated in USA). Fire was located in cabin and tail (sabotage?).
27 April Tunica, Miss. Cessna Caravan of FedEx 18wheeler tore a wing off FedEx a/c that had just landed OK on US Hwy 61. Nil / 2 o/b Op by Baron Aviation. Engine quit about 35 NM S of Memphis, Tenn.
27 April Naples, Italy MD-80 of Alitalia An Air One 737 pilot aborted take-off at >100kts when he noticed the MD-80 lined up at the runway's opposite end. Nil Both headed for Turin, Italy. Alitalia crew believed to have misunderstood taxi instructions. ENAV investigating.
27 April Moscow, Russia 737-500 of AeroSwit Aircraft ran off the side of the runway after 250mtrs of roll & was evacuated. Nil / 108 o/b Ukrainian a/c (headed Kiev) is being examined for repair potential.
28 April 1130L Winnipeg, Canada MD-83 of Jetsgo Flt: 149 Landed r/way 36 after a starboard engine problem 45NM N of Winnipeg. Nil / 155 o/b Engine shut down after a fuel filter bypass light (filter clogged).
28 April 2130Z JFK, New York Dornier 328 of United Express N416FJ was damaged when tug driver drove off (power-cart still attached). Nil Caused a nose compartment fire. Pax evac'd via rear stairs without injury.
28 April New Delhi, India A300 of Indian Airlines Hit by baggage trolley at bay 12 after a Jet Airways flight turned into bay 8. Nil Trolley got blasted along by the Jet Airways' thrust increase (for the turn).
28 April Schiphol, Netherlands Luxor Air (the Egyptian airline) Banned by Dutch CAA in Netherlands after a weight & balance related incident at Schiphol Airport. Nil Matched by Italy, Belgium & Switzerland (follows earlier flight safety incident at Nantes, France).
28 April Vancouver 767 of Air Canada AC109 CF-18 jets escorted flt AC109 into Vancouver after email threat received. Nil Halifax-Toronto-Vancouver flight.
28 April Albuquerque, N.M. MD-80 of AA Flt: 1508 Landed back after a noisy starboard engine event. Nil / 134 o/b Enroute to Denver, Colo.
28 April 0400L Bogota, Colombia DC-10-30F of Centurion Cargo N189AX overran on landing and collapsed its nose-gear short of a road. 3 inj / 3 o/b A/c substantially damaged - a possible write-off (Bogota-Eldorado).
29 April Minneapolis, Minn. C130 of Minnesota Air Nat'l. Guard Right main gear collapsed on landing & #4 prop plus wingtip scraped earth. Nil Large fireball at wingtip (a/c had circled for an hour to burn off fuel).
29 April Charleroi, Belgium 737 of Ryanair Dublin bound flt re-landed and evac'd after an engine failure after t/off. Nil /120 pax Similar incident at Nantes on Tues 27th Apr 04 with 97 pax.
