11 Apr 1423Z Calgary Alberta, Canada 737-76N of WestJet Flt: WJA556 Reg: C-GWSH #2 engine ingested small Mallard duck on short final r/way 16. Nil Light damage to CFM56-7B22 (fan-blades 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 replaced), duck nicely done.
14 Apr 1400Z St John's Intl Newfoundland 757-236 of RNZAF Flt: Kiw244 A/c parked for de-ice on delivery flight when tug impacted under nose-cone. Nil Substantial damage to NZ7571. Vehicle lost control on slippery apron of GA area.
15 Apr 1439Z Halifax NS DHC8-102 of Jazz Flt: JZA8902 Aborted Halifax-Deer Lake flt with hydraulic problem. Nil Returned Halifax with electric hydraulic pump unserviceable.
16 Mar JFK A/P 777 of BA Became entangled in barbed wire atop a blast fence during taxi-in. The cost of security. Nil Pax waited 25 mins while a/c disentangled. One winglet damaged. A/c ferried empty to Heathrow.
16 Apr Kotzebue, Alaska PA-32-300 of Ait Taxi & Commute N2863T descended and flew into a snow-covered lagoon in VMC white-out conditions. 1 uninj A/c enrt from Ralph Wien A/P to Noorvik was substantially damaged. Featureless terrain hazard.
16 Apr 1410Z St John's Intl Newfoundland A330-243 of Air Transat Reg:C-GPTS Flt: TSC884 Ground-handler noted rubber covering on boarding gate was smoking after a/c departed. Nil CADORS reports it as both L-1011 and A330? Crew reported that wing light had been left on inadvertently.
17 Apr 2205L Wiley Ford, West Virginia J31 Jetstream of Boston Maine Airlines Unsecured battery cart slid into port propeller and debris exploded a large window in the lower concourse Nil Minor a/c damage and cart destroyed; airport building window shattered.
17 Apr 0917L Salt Lake City Utah 757-232 of Delta Reg: N6712B Climbing through 10,000ft left engine caught fire. Both fire bottles discharged without changing fire indication. 123 on board uninjured Fuel line feeding the thrust reverser had failed and a hole had burnt through the shroud around the hot section.
17 Apr 1352Z Winnipeg Intl Manitoba SA226AT Merlin of Perimeter Airlines A C414 exceeded its taxi clearance and had passed the hold line Runway 31 by 100ft when ATC halted it. Nil PAG502 Merlin was inside half-mile and had been cleared to land. Close save on a runway incursion.
18 Apr Knoxville Tenn Beech 1900 (tbc) of US Airways Flt from Charlotte NC declared emerg and landed McGee Tyson. Nil / 21 on board Unknown mechanical problem.
18 Apr 2043L Miami Fla. 737 of Atlantic SouthEast Flt ASA16 a/c encountered turbulence inbound. 1 inj One flight attendant minor injury.
18 Apr Salt Lake City Ut MU-2 of American Check Flt: ACT900 On t/off, a/c took out several lights on west side r/way 35. Nil Substantial damage, circumstances unknown, light winds & good vis.
19 Apr Dublin Ireland 737-800 of Ryanair Reg: EI-CJH Unsched landing back at Dublin after t/off birdstrike. Nil / 103 on board Engine shutdown following birdstrike of Bristol-bound a/c.
20 Apr Riga Latvia 747-400 of BA Flt: BA146 Emerg Landing after smoke in cockpit during Calcutta-London Flight Nil Smoke emanated from cockpit door-lock solenoid. Believe a 777 (not BA) inbound India had similar incident a few days earlier.
20 Apr 2336L Charleston SC 747 of Evergreen International EIA458 wingtip hit taxiway sign whilst taxiing for dept. Nil Extent of damage unknown.
21 Apr 2140L Covington Ky 767 of Delta Flt: DAL1106 Aircraft encountered turbulence at 10,000ft on descent. 2 inj One F/A hospitalized (head injuries), one pax treated by medics.
23 Apr Mexico City-Madrid 767-200 of AerMexico Aborted flight after airborne and re-landed after experiencing gear problems Nil No further details.
21 Apr Manchester UK Citation II Inbd a/c declared emerg with "a/c full of smoke and fumes." Evac on runway after landing. 2 inj Lost communications at 10 miles. Pilots suffered smoke inhalation. Under investigation by North Executive Aviation.
22 Apr 0600L Grande Rapids Michigan Embraer RJ145 of American Eagle Flt: 3796 Pilot suspended following blood alcohol reading of 0.12% Nil / 36 on board Flight deptd 56mins late for Dallas Ft Worth. American Eagle blood alcohol limit is 0.02%
22 Apr 1801L Denver Colo. MD80 of Delta Flt: DAL964 Aircraft started taxiing before tug unhooked. Tug punched hole in a/c. Nil Moderate damage - hole in fuselage behind port-side forward cabin door.
