25 Jan 1722Z vicinity of Sept-Iles 767-333 of Air Canada Reg: C-FMWQ ACA868 diverted Dorval after left engine failure. Nil Enroute Toronto-Heathrow. Missing 5th stage compressor blades and assoc damage. Engine replaced.
25 Jan San Francisco-Calgary A319 of Air Canada Reg: G-GBHM ACA542 forced into high-speed protection mode climb at FL390 by a mountain-wave induced speed increase. Nil Caused by acceln past VMO/MMO limit speed (approx 265 kts IAS) by strong mountain-wave encounter. Recovered to cruising level after autopilot disconnect.
25 Jan Grande Prairie A/p Canada 737-269 of WestJet Flt WJA95 Flight returned to Edmonton after runway lights failed. Nil Cable break in an edge light pulpit on runway 11/29 took hours to repair.

30 Jan 2150L Jackson, Miss. Beech200 of Air Transportation LLC N208F gear collapsed on landing after return. Nil Both main-gear legs collapsed after tower fly-by inspection. Major damage.

02 Feb 1047L Beijing-Fuzhou A320 of Sichuan Flt: Ca1505 Hijack suicide attempt by 39 year old man using fuel in a soft-drink can. Nil / 149 pax Subdued by guards. Serial Chinese pax suicide attempts began with Dalian MD-82 crash 09 May 02.
02 Feb Winnipeg, Canada 737-269 of Air Canada Flt: ACA6081 (Saskatoon-Toronto) diverted due to smoke. Nil No further details.
03 Feb 1300L Dublin Ireland - Bristol UK 737 of Ryanair Reg: EI-CKS Flt: FR-506 Returned with smoke in cabin and pax evacuated on R/way 28. Nil / 120 pax Some chutes failed to deploy & pax on wing were directed by ARFF to re-enter a/c via overwing exits.
03 Feb Bombay, India 757-22L of Comco Reg: N610G re-reg by Raytheon A/C enroute Karachi-Male forced to land by Indian AF (a/c is ex reg: N1018N). Nil / 11 crew US Mil charter allegedly diverted from cleared tracking. A/C is a "special" Raytheon SigInt mod.
05 Feb 2330 Shenzen, China 767 of Air China Singapore-bound flight diverted after male pax barricaded himself in toilet. Nil A doctor from Tianjin hospital was arrested by Shenzen police; 3rd such China air incident in 2 weeks.
