20 Sept. 1600Z Calgary, Canada A319 of SkyService #1 spoilers were "pinned" by maint for MEL (after a fault) but floated up after take-off - creating a flight control problem. A/c landed back. Nil Spoiler locking key unavailable locally so technician had used an incorrect "remembered" technique (applicable only to older A319/A320 versions).
04 Dec. 1944L Dayton, Ohio EMB-145 of American Eagle During pre-dept taxi for Ohare a/c became bogged & shut down. Nil EGF196 inadvertently left the hard surface at the appch end r/way 36
04 Dec. 2025Z Toronto, Ontario CL600-2B19(RJ) of COMAIR COM5894 declared emergency for flap failure and landed flapless. Nil N965CA was arriving from Covington Cincinnati (Northern Kentucky).
09 Dec. Whitehorse, Canada Beech 99 of Air North Forced to lower the gear manually due u/carriage indications unavailable. Nil Electrical failure of indicator on flight to Dawson (returned Whitehorse)
11 Dec. 1312Z Saskatoon Saskatchewan DC9-32 of NWA Flt: NWA1840 N611NA rptd a major electrical problem on dept and declared an emerg on appch r/way 09. After maint it again deptd, could not retract the gear and again approached to re-land. Nil Overshot final appch, declaring problem "fixed" and departed. Reason for gear failure to retract remains unexplained (old a/c and aged wiring means intermittencies are "de rigeur").
11 Dec. 1052L Greenville, Tenn. (fm Port Columbus) C414 of Saunders Advisory Group Pilot reported an icing-associated engine problem just before the a/c crashed into a heavily wooded hill. 4 fatal / 5 o/b Crash-site 2 NM north of airport where witnesses sighted the a/c on a r/way 23 downwind leg with its gear down.
11 Dec. 2245L Denver, Colo. EMB-120 Flt: AGL5205 Aborted its take-off because of two tires blowing. Nil / 18 o/b "Heels to the floor" once brakes no longer required for keeping straight?
11 Dec. 2239L New York 767 of Delta Flt: DAL106 Cargo container fell off truck and struck #2 eng cowl while a/c boarding. Nil Large dent in #2 engine cowl (a/c parked Gate 21).
11 Dec 1910L Pittsburgh Pa Beech 1900 Reg: N6YV Navigation light broken when a/c was struck by deicing truck during de-ice. Nil No further details.
13 Dec. Toledo, Ohio A319 of NWA NWA1822 Diverted, declaring a fuel emergency and allegedly advised TOL ATC (about 10 minutes out) that "they might not make the field." Nil / 96 pax Mexico City to Detroit Flight with nil significant weather. Possible flight-plan miscalculation of fuel required.
13 Dec. Atlanta, Ga. MD-11 of Delta Flt: 802 During engine run after an eng change the fiery exhaust that normally happens for a brief period caused an inadvisable shutdown & extensive fire. Nil Standard procedure is to first motor then light off a "pickled" engine to eliminate (then burn) the preservative oils. A/c extensively burnt on RHS.
14 Dec. 1130L Lima, Peru 737 of Aero Continente A/c arriving from Caracas made a hard landing and all incoming traffic was diverted to Pisco, Chiclayo, Santiago and Guayaquil airports. Nil / 93 pax Passengers reported "flames lapping the wings" but extent of damage is unclear.
14 Dec. 1243Z Halifax, NS 737-201 of CANJET C-FGCJ At 1243Z CJA125 advised returning due to odors, landing at 1300Z. Nil No further details.
15 Dec. 0055L Miami, Fla. CL600 of Air Wisconsin Tow bar broke during pushback of N445AW (a CL600-2B1). Nil No further details - but substantial damage reported
15 Dec. 2208L Bangor, Maine DO-228-201 Slid off left side on landing. Nil Unknown damage to N407VA.
15 Dec. 1248L Cambridge UK DO328 of Scotair Landed with left engine shut down. Nil No further details.
15 Dec Cambridge, UK Citation (not of Marshalls) Overshot runway end during a post-landing brake-fade runway test. Nil Unknown operator and extent of damage unknown.
15 Dec. 1918Z Toronto, Ontario CL600 of Jazz JZA8643 Declared hydraulic emergency and landed 1918Z on r/way 23. Nil Flight arriving from La Guardia, N.Y.
16 Dec. 1330L Mosinee, Wis. Beech 99 of Frt Runners Express N399CZ made a hard landing in marginal weather conditions. Nil Substantial damage.
17 Dec. 1030L Vicdessos Valley Casa CN235 of French air force A/c crashed on a peak during a jump detail in Southern France. 6 fatal / 7 o/b One person remains missing. A/c is also on the civil register.
17 Dec. a.m. hrs Stansted, UK 737 of EasyJet A/c pulled out onto runway 23 causing a landing Ryanair 737 to go round. Nil Exact sequence of events being reviewed (ATC tapes "pulled").
17 Dec. 2122L Salt Lake City, Ut. B737 of Capital Air (N233TM) Aborted t/off roll 16L with an engine fire which was then extinguished. Nil / 109 pax / 5cru Unknown damage to CPX112.
18 Dec. Memphis, Tenn. MD-10 of FedEx N364FE A/c veered off the runway on landing & caught fire, right MLG collapsed (again - MD11 always the right MLG). Nil / 7o/b Extensive and substantial fire damage on arrival at the FedEx main base from Oakland, Calif.
19 Dec. 0130L Wellington, NZ Convair CV580 of Air Chathams Freighter (type TBC) divtd Wellington after crew smelled electrical fumes. Nil Possibly an Origin Pacific Jetstream sub-charter (Auck-Christchurch)
