06 Oct. Mid-America A/P E3B AWACS of USAF A/c diverted to this St Clair County Missouri A/P with a smoke emergency. Nil / 23 o/b Smoke in cockpit.
08 Oct. 0707L Ft Myers A/P Fla. 767 of Delta Flt: 1954 Landed back after #1 compressor surging & eng shutdown 15mins out. Nil / 131 + 7crew Atlanta bound flight.
09 Oct. 1105L Wellington 737-300 of Air NZ Diverted into Dunedin following birdstrike and engine shutdown. Nil / 83 + 7 crew Auckland bound jet took minor damage to one engine (by a magpie).
09 Oct. 0830L Patrick AFB KC135 of 940th Air Refuel Wing Re-landed after an engine fire 10mins after t/off (and an oceanic fuel dump). Nil / 5 o/b Enroute to Charleston, S.C.
10 Oct. Kahului Intl. 757-200 of United UA1656 Smoke observed in cabin soon after t/off Kona and a/c landed Kahului Intl Nil/106 pax/7cru Kona - San Francisco flight.
11 Oct. 2102L New York JFK (Mexico City to Paris flight). 767-200 of AeroMexico Flt: 505 Drunken 25yo male pax bound with plasticuffs, broke free then tied up with pantyhose but soon expired under weight of passengers subduing him. 1 fatal Unable to be revived by doctor onboard. Death probably due to suffocation caused by overaggressive passenger participation in the conflict.
12 Oct. 1400L Albany, NY CRJ-200 of Air Canada A/c bound Newark landed Albany, N.Y. after a hydraulic failure. Nil / 27pax Ex Montreal.
14 Oct. 0110Z Thunder Bay Ontario 737-217 of Zip Air Flt: WZP6288 C-GFCP suffered a series of electrical interrupts, warnings and cautions during Winnipeg-Ottawa flight. Nil Cont'd to destination. #1 eng Gen Ctrl Unit intermittent ground to a power transfer relay & faulty hyd pump relay.
15 Oct 1710L Canberra Australia 737-BBJ of RAAF VIP fleet Emerg landing after striking several birds during a crew training flight. Nil Birdstrike took place at RAAF East Sale (about an hour's flt to the SSE).
16 Oct. 2154Z Vancouver BC 747-433 of Air Canada ACA003 enroute Vancouver-Tokyo reported smoke in the cockpit. Nil Identified recirculation fan as culprit, disabled it & proceeded to destination.
16 Oct. 1234L Albuquerque, NM Citation 525 of Flight Options Air Taxi OPT240 blew a tire on take-off roll runway 8 and aborted. Nil Bound for Denver, Colorado.
16 Oct. 2240L Plymouth, Fla. Rockwell 690 Turbo Commander N9LV right MLG collapsed on landing in light winds (from Oklahoma City). Nil Minor damage.
16 Oct. 1500L Miami, Fla. Learjet 35 Aircraft struck a bird 7 miles aast on climbout. Nil Minor damage (report is vague on subsequent actions).
16 Oct. 2350L Nth Grand Canyon MD-900 of Papillon N179PA helo landed hard on North rim of Grand Canyon and rolled over. Nil Nil injuries to five on board. Helo totalled.
17 Oct. 0300L Boston, Mass. 737-700 of US AIR While in hangar a catering truck struck and damaged tail of N405US. Nil Holed the leading edge of the port horizontal stabilizer.
17 Oct. Chicago (O'Hare) MD-83 of Alaskan,Flt: 130 Electrical problem and flap asymmetry caused an emergency landing. Nil / 113 o/b Landed no-flap (asymmetry of flap actuation system enroute from Anchorage).
18 Oct. 0057L Chicago, Ill. CRJ-200ER of Air Wisconsin N415AW was empty and parked at a gate when it was struck by a tug. Nil Damage to underside of rt wing flap cowl housing (United Express Line).
18 Oct. Toronto, Canada 767-3YO of Air Canada ACA917 C-GGFJ nose-gear fail to lock caused o'shoot. Alternate gear extension. Nil NLG priority valve replaced and NLG check-swung serviceable.
19 Oct. 1005L Cork, Ireland 747-400 of KLM Reg: PH-BFN Diverted from point 250nm W with an emerg declared for a cargo-hold fire. Nil / 412 + 16 crew Reported to be a false warning (which continued after landing).
19 Oct. 2200Z Toronto, Canada CL600-2B19 of Air Canada ACA0556 failed to pressurize in climb and returned to Toronto. Nil C-FWRR pax door outer handle "door-locked" sensor inoperative.
20 Oct. Yakutia, Russia AN-24 of AeroFlot Flt: 465 Emerg landing at Tuimada A/P in Yakutsk after a gear non-retraction. Nil / 16 + 5 crew Enroute Yakutsk to Verkhne, dumped fuel and landed.
21 Oct. Johannesburg SA 737-200 of BA (Comair) BA6405 returned shortly after t/off due to a technical problem & then was nearly hit by another a/c after landing. Nil Unconfirmed report from passenger aboard. A/c was enroute to Capetown
22 Oct. Alicante, Spain Learjet Learjet cleared to takeoff with a van parked in the center of runway 10 (approximately 1800 meters down from the threshold). Nil Van's position put it in a shallow dip making it invisible to the Lear at the threshold. Lear rotated and cleared the van by about 15 feet.
22 Oct. Dublin A/P A321 of Aer Lingus A/c preparing to depart for London was struck by lightning. Pax evacuated and fire services dispatched after smoke was spotted rising from a wing. Nil Incident caused airport officials to suspend the refueling of planes for two hours and a number of trans-Atlantic flights were cancelled.
23 Oct. 1020L Tel Aviv-Toronto 777 of El Al Flt: LY105 Landed Hamilton after an initial diversion to Montreal (following a threat aboard re destination Toronto). Nil / 180 pax A/c met by police team on arrival Hamilton. Threat believed to be specific and based on a phone-call.
