01 Jul Tri-Cities Intl Tenn MD-87 of Allegiant N945MA struck jetway with wingtip. Nil Taken out of service due to minor damage.
02 Jul Detroit-Toronto DHC-8 of JAZZ Air Reg: C-FPON JZA7998 lowered gear manually after hydfail and lost n/wheel steering during no-flap landing roll-out 15L. Nil #1 hyd system failed due leak in brake unit. #2 system failure was due to sticking brake shuttle valve.
06 Jul Toronto Ontario 767 of Air Canada Reg: C-GGFJ ACA 101 ret'd Toronto with elec smell & flashing o'head lights. Nil Smoke attributed to soap residue dripping onto lavatory water heater.
09 Jul Washington-Dulles 767 of KLM A/c landed with cracked windshield. Nil Next flight delayed 2 hrs.
10 Jul 1310L Cheyenne Wyoming CASA 2.111 of American Airpower Heritage Heinkel III replica crashed during forced landing after losing left engine on appch r/way 26 Cheyenne. 2 fatal / 2 on board Flight originated Midland Texas and was enroute to Missoula Montana. Reg: N72615.
13 Jul 1141L San Cristobal Venezuela LET 410UVP-E of Ruban & Duran Ca YV-1060CP struck Cerro La Gama Peak in Charro del Indio National Park and was destroyed. 4pax fatal / 8pax & 2crew o/b Deptd La Carlota at 1141L and was approaching destination at 14:15. Controlled Flight into terrain (CFIT).
14 Jul Sudbury Ontario DHC-8 of Jazzair PA-46 (C-GBCP) C-GBCP landed although DHC-8 was backtracking runway towards him. Nil ATC instructed C-GBCP to change to a freq other than the mandatory one.
20 Jul Copenhagen MD-83 of Spanair During maint in hangar (at Kastrup Intl A/P) the landing gear collapsed. Nil EC-GXU will be out of service for 8 weeks due to substantial damage.
21 Jul Bryansk Russia 737-400 of Olympic Awys Diverted Bryansk with engine problems. Nil Enroute Athens-Moscow.
24 Jul 0826L Midland Texas BE40 Beechjet 400 Rake 38 aborted a touch and go after a birdstrike, and deptd the runway. Nil Unknown damage.
24 Jul ~1310 Tel Aviv 747-400 of El Al Flt: LY031 Suspected post-t/off tire burst, gear left down, dumped fuel & landed. Nil / 518 on board Landed after an hour.
25 Jul 1952L Albuquerque NM Eclipse 500 prototype ECP101 Rt MLG collapsed after touchdown, damaging w'tip undersurface & flaps nil Actuator casting fractured. 2nd MLG incident for Elipse (unrelated causes)
25 Jul 1830L O'Hare Chicago A340 of Air France A/c experienced 3 rapid loss of separation incidents incl a TCAS RA on dept. FAA investigating 3 separate controller's errors. Nil Proximities were to United Express departing behind, an Air Canada CRJ (20mls NE - one ml lateral and 200ft vert) + another United Express.
25 Jul 1605Z Montreal Quebec Dornier DO-328 of Atlantic Coast BLR6214 was evacuated at the holding point due to smoke. Nil No further details.
26 Jul 1948L Salt Lake City Utah CRJ of Sky West Flt: 3881 On landing blew a tire causing unknown damage to aircraft. Nil No further details ( Reg: N431SW).
26 Jul 1730 WhiteRiver Ariz. Contract Helo ( Bell 206L) reg:N6184D A/c went down enroute to a wildfire task 175mls NE of Phoenix while carrying three fire-fighters. 2 fatal (inc pilot) / 2inj Transiting to fight a fire in the Aspen Ridge Area. Another fatal fire-fighter helo crash in NE Wash State 25 July.
27 Jul 2000L Boston Logan A/P A320 of US Airways US2132 struck jetway while parking at Gate 18. Nil Minor damage to left engine cowling of N751US
27 Jul 1439L Franfurt Intl 757-230 of Thomas Cook D-ABNS reported cockpit smoke shortly before landing Leipzig. Nil / 224 pax Condor Flt ex Gran Canaria.
28 Jul Orlando Fla. MD-80 of American Engine failed just after take-off and Flt1237 returned to land. Nil Bound for St Louis Mo.
28 Jul 2358Z Anch-Vancouver Rogue balloon 737-400 of Alaska Flt ASA102 reported a very large balloon passed close-by at 6500ft. Nil See last week's 16 Jul entry on rogue balloon in Canadian & Alaskan area.
29 Jul 1235L Glasgow 777 of BA Reg: G-VIIL Four staff complained of a strange smell in the cabin & a/c diverted. Nil / 266 o/b Gatwick - Houston Flight. Crew treated for sore throats.
29 Jul Curacao MD-82 of Dutch Caribbean (DCA) Fire broke out in the LH eng and a/c circled for 25mins to reduce weight. Nil Enroute to St Maarten Dutch Antilles, Eastern Caribbean.
29 Jul El Paso Texas PA-60 AeroStar of Telesis Transair N600TE landed runway 26L and spun off the runway's north side. Nil Came to rest between taxiway V and taxiway U. [wind 140 at 7kts].
30 Jul Narita A/P Japan 777 of American Airlines NY-Tokyo flt167 declared an emerg after a "knife" was found aboard. Nil /168 on board Crew mistook a 5cm bladed letter-opener/cig lighter (found in crew rest compartment) for a knife.
30 Jul 2130L Gallatin Field CRJ of Delta Flt: DL3924 A/c left engine failed 50 mls short of Bozeman. Nil / 49 pax Salt Lake City to Bozeman Montana.
30 Jul 1030L Newark NJ MD-80 N581AA was struck in the nose-cone by a service truck while unoccupied. Nil Minor damage.
30 Jul 0722 Kansas City Mo. 737-700 of Delta DAL1018 aborted t/off due bird strike and returned to the gate. Nil Minor damage
