29 March 1030L Portland, Ore. 737 of SWA Flt declared an emergency after a flock of starlings was sucked into an engine. Nil / 141 o/b Re-landed without incident).
04 April Ronaldsway, UK Many a/c of many airlines Isle of Man runway closed and many diversions after fire-truck overturned. Nil Euromanx flights cancelled and other outbound flights delayed by three hours.
10 April 1315L North Platte, Neb. A319 of Northwest Phoenix-Minneapolis flight diverted to this Nebraska Regnl A/P due to smoke in the cockpit. Nil / 124 pax Faulty ventilation fan - underway 3 hours later.
12 April Arlanda, Sweden A320 of Spanair Reg: EC-IOH A320 had its front door ripped off by a malfunctioning airbridge at Gate 7. Nil Former reg: F-WWIV.
13 April Sacramento, Calif. 767 of Airborne Express Cargo flight from Wilmington diverted to Mather AFB with unsafe gear. Nil No damage.
14 April 1915EDT Daytona Beach, Fla. Beech 300 Reg: N301KS A/c stalled and crashed after a low turn during a low go-round r/way 23. 2 inj / 2 o/b Aircraft destroyed (crashed into trees and a house). No power application heard on go-around.
14 April Fort Myers, Fla. 737 of US Airways While being parked at the gate, high winds pushed a/c into a structure. Nil / 175 o/b Minor damage.
15 April 1306Z Portland, Ore. A319 of United Reg: N817UA Returned to land after ingesting a bird in #2 engine on take-off runway 10L. Nil Extent of damage TBD (Portland for Denver, Colo.).
15 April 0700L Newark, N.J. Continental 737 and DC-8 of ATI Flt: 816 AMASS radar is credited with saving an ATI DC8 freighter from landing atop a 737 in one mile visibility Nil Continental a/c lined up 4L for dep and Air Transport International DC-8 (cleared 4R) lined up 4L on becoming visual.
16 April 0403L Mumbai, India A340-300 of Air Mauritius Major damage on ramp caused by ramming of cargo hold area by a tug. Nil Air India ramp handlers leave Air Mauritius with 4 A340-300's (only).
16 April 1950L Dublin, Ireland 737 of BA Flt: BA8086 A/P closed due to a/c disabled on runway & runway hydraulic fluid contamination. Nil 737 from Gatwick with nosewheel steering failure. 11 flights diverted.
17 April 1715L Shannon, Ireland A321 of My Travel Belfast-Las Palmas flight diverted into Shannon due to a disruptive male pax. Nil / 198 pax 48 y.o. Ballymena NI man arrested and charged with assault.
17 April 1433MDT Colorado Springs, Colo. CL600-2B19 of Mesa Airlines Reg: N17231 Flt412 evac'd on taxiway after landing due to smoke in the cabin. Nil / 53 o/b Phoenix - Colorado Springs, Colo., flight. Air conditioning pack leak.
17 April Cairo, Egypt A300-600 of Qatar Airways Casablanca, Morocco, to Doha, Qatar, diverted into Cairo with a maniac pax. Nil / 93 o/b Cabin crew restrained the Kuwaiti man and Egyptian police arrested him.
20 April Evansville, Ind. Bell 206B of Airevac LifeTeam N2758L engine quit and a/c crashed 29 miles NE of Evansville in good weather. 1 fatal / 3 serious Huntinburg, Ind., for Evansville, Ind., hospital (4 on board).
20 April 0106Z Honolulu, Hawaii C208 Caravan of Pacific Wings Flt 2005 (Maui for Honolulu) hit turbulence and seat-belted pax injured. 1 inj Severe scalp lacerations.
20 April Adelaide, Australia 747 of MAS Flt: MH129 Kuala Lumpur - Melbourne flight diverted in with smoke in the cockpit. Nil / 136 o/b Prior electrical problems reported. Departed Adelaide two hours later.
20 April day Nampula, Mozambique C404 of Furgo Airborne Surveys Reg: ZS-NVD A/c crashed in town's main Libertade Square after take-off. 2 fatal / 2 o/b 2000 km N of Maputo. Aircraft destroyed (c/n 404-0667).
20 April 1100L Gorizia, Italy MD-80 of Alitalia Reg: I-DAWR About 20ft of right wing was torn off following a collision after landing - with a truck on the runway - pax evacuated. Nil / 91 pax "Normal routine (whatever that is) recommenced at Ronchi dei Legionari shortly after noon" said its director.
21 April Heathrow, UK 747-400 of BA Struck jetty (Terminal One on taxi-in). Nil /325 o/b Low impact speed, minor damage.
21 April Birmingham, UK Dash8-400 of Flybe Reg: G-JEDI Ended up on grass at taxiway E1 (near 33 threshold) off a runway 15 landing. Nil R'way 33 threshold is very slippery when wet (2nd such incident in a few weeks - Britannia 757).
21 April 1300L Regina, Canada 737-200 of WestJet Evacuated on runway after right MLG wheel caught fire on rollout (advice by ATC). Nil / 116 o/b Flight WS210 from Calgary.
21 April 1720Z Lufkin, Texas Jetstream 3101 Reg: N904EH Blew left tire on landing runway 31 on arrival from Dallas, Texas. Nil Owner: First Bank Leasing
22 April 0903L Dusseldorf, Germany DC-10 of Ghana Airways 9G-ANE touched down >1500m in and overran (landing gear was damaged). Nil Airport seeking damage costs for lights. A/c left after an 11-hour delay.
