08 March 1330 Chennai Intl., India A330 of Thai Intl. Overran the runway end by a few meters on landing. Nil / 317 pax Nosewheel became stuck in soft ground (minor damage).
09 March 1025 PST Peach Springs, Ariz. Cessna 402A of King Airlines N99AT slid off runway 17 after right main gear collapsed during landing roll, a/c then colliding with a berm. Nil / 10 o/b Substantial damage (gear sheared off, vertical stabilizer punctured and the right wing tip-tank ruptured).
11 March 2030L Napa, Calif. MU-2B-40 Reg: N966MA Crashed into Napa River while on approach to Napa County Airport (3 miles further on). 2 fatal / 2 o/b Departed Imperial, Calif., in visual meteorological conditions (VMC). Wreckage located by sonar 18 Mar 04.
11 March evening Johannesburg, S.A. 737-200 of SAA Flt: SA068 J'Burg- Lusaka flight returned shortly after take-off with an engine problem. Nil No further details.
13 March 0450 EDT Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Beech 90 of Execstar N11FL left main (indicating unsafe) landing gear collapsed after 2000ft of landing roll on runway 13. Nil / 7 o/b Substantial damage. ATC had info'd pilot that his (indicating) unsafe gear was "down" after a low pass.
19 March Yellowknife Canada 777-200 of UA N783UA UA901 (Frankfurt-San Francisco) diverted to YZF (runway 7500ft) after a compressor stall on its starboard engine. Nil / 259 pax Engine changed 25 Mar in -43 deg Celsius temperatures (-45 deg F). CYZF Lat 62.27.46N Long 114.26.25W- ETOPS destination.
24 March 1052Z Galveston, Texas S76A of Era Aviation Flt: 579 Crashed in Gulf of Mexico 60nm SW of take-off point Scholes A/P Galveston while enroute to an oil-drilling ship. 10 fatal / 10 o/b Enroute refuelling platform A557. Latest in a number of oil industry helo accidents in the area.
25 March 1030Z Pittsfield, Mass. MU-2B-36 Marquise Reg: N201UV of Royal Air Freight Crashed 1-2 miles E of field at 0545 EST shortly after losing transponder and comms with Boston ARTCC at FL170. Radar last showed a/c "slowing." 1 fatal / 1 o/b Possible electrical loss in instrument conditions. Poss. icing in freezing rain. Freighter a/c enroute Hagerstown, Md. to Bangor, Maine, with cargo of screws.
25 March Calgary, Canada EMB-110 of Kenn Borek Air Blew left tire on landing after losing eng 45mins out of Fort St John, B.C. Nil / 8pax Oil-rig charter.
26 March Raleigh Durham, N.C. 737-500 of Continental (at the terminal) F/A18 Pilot ejected on take-off roll and burning jet came to halt 200ft from a Newark bound Continental jet. Nil Military averages 8 movements per day at this civilian airport. Fighter had stopped at airport to refuel.
26 March 1246L Fort Myers, Fla. SW Florida Intl A/P MD-80 of AA Flt: AA1304 Dallas bound flt cx after a psychic initiated extensive bomb search of a/c and crew then ran out of duty hours. Nil / 128 pax TSA official claimed that such information cannot be disregarded & required checking.
26 March Milano, Italy Malpensa A/P EMB-145 of AF Flt: AF1567 Pisa (Italy) to Paris (CDG) flight was diverted to Malpensa due to suspicious baggage of a Senegalese traveler. Nil False alarm due to present European security jitters. Pilot was alarmed by size of bag.
26 March 0700 L JFK, N.Y. MD-80 of AA Flt: AA1453 Flt 1453 diverted into JFK with smoke 10 mins after departing La Guardia . Nil/48 o/b No further info on cause of smoke in cockpit.
26 March Syracuse, N.Y. KingAir 300 of Hancock Intl. Aircraft lost the left engine and crew diverted into Syracuse, N.Y. Nil / 5 o/b Enroute Watertown, Mass., from Granville, S.C.
26 March 1720L Cardiff Wales, UK 777-200 of BA Flt: BA099 Heathrow-Vancouver flight landed Cardiff with smoke in the cabin. Nil / 290 o/b Landed almost 30 mins. after smoke was first smelled over the Irish Sea.
27 March 2016Z La Verne, Calif. MU-2 Marquise Reg: N81MF Lost directional control on landing and collapsed its nose-gear during a skid. Nil / 4 o/b Lake Havasu City, Ariz. to La Verne, Calif., flight.
27 March Oakland, Calif. 737-700 of Aloha Airlines First Officer detained during boarding due to suspicion of intoxication. Nil 0.182% blood alcohol content (twice the California legal limit for driving).
28 March 1300L Chengdu, China 737-300 of Air China A/c slid off the runway on landing & was evac'd. Airport shut for 2.5 hrs. Nil Nanjing- Shangliu A/P Chengdu (capital of Sichuan Province).
29 March 2000Z Tulsa, Okla. 737-700 of SWA SWA1023 encountered turbulence at 10,000ft injuring one F/A. 1 inj St. Louis, Mo., to Tulsa, Okla., flight.
29 March 1945Z Charlotte, N.C. DC-3 reg: N58NA Aircraft lost brake pressure while taxiing and crashed into de-icer truck. Nil/ 2 crew Significant damage.
30 March Gran Canaria Dauphin AS365N1 Medevac helo hit power-lines after lift-off from tourist bus accident site. 5 killed / 5 o/b Operational hazard (Company was Helicsa).
30 March Liverpool, UK HS748 Freighter of Emerald Nose landing gear centering pin was not fully replaced after pushback and caused flight to return Liverpool. Nil Found on r'way. Can cause directional control problems with - as nose-wheel can then castor.
30 March Denver, Colo. A320 of United Flt 211 Washington (Dulles)-San Diego flight divtd Denver Intl (compressor stall). Nil / 122 o/b No further details.
