Pilatus Selects  the S-TEC Intelliflight 1950 Digital Flight Control

S-TEC Corporation announced today that Pilatus Aircraft, Ltd has selected the S-TEC IntelliFlight 1950 Digital Flight Control System (DFCS) on their PC-21, a 21st century turboprop military training aircraft. “The PC-21 turboprop trainer represents a whole new way of approaching basic through advanced and fighter lead-in flight training for military aviators around the world,” Mel Hilderbrand, S-TEC president said. “To meet Pilatus’ goals of ‘jet-like’ performance, capabilities and handling for the PC-21, the flight control system has to be able to effectively and reliably operate within an extremely wide performance envelope.” Because Pilatus is creating the PC-21 as a completely new training system, which will meet the needs of modern air forces over the next 30-years, the IntelliFlight 1950 DFCS has also had to demonstrate the capability for continued upgradeability.
