Louisiana Guard to Fly Drug Interdiction Flights

Louisiana Air National Guard helicopters will conduct drug investigation flights in New Orleans. La. on a case-by-case basis. The counter-drug flights are being flown to assist the New Orleans police. The city police would like the flights at least four nights a week and continue through the end of the year. Missions of this type have been flown since Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. The helicopters provide an aerial perspective as well as lighting capabilities and cameras. The counter-drug program is a federally funded effort that allows the Louisiana Air National Guard to fly about 750 hours a fiscal year. For related news
