Canada, Mexico Reach Air Transport Agreement
Canada and Mexico reached an expanded air transport agreement, which will facilitate increased travel and trade between the two countries.
The expanded agreement provides an open framework for direct flights between
Canada and Mexico, which will allow airlines from both countries to offer more services, the countries said. Additionally, the agreement modernizes safety and security provisions.
"As Canada's third largest air transport market, Mexico is an important bilateral aviation partner," said Denis Lebel, Canadian minister of transport, infrastructure and communities. "The expanded air transport agreement builds on the existing air transport agreement to benefit travelers, shippers, and the business sectors of both countries."
Since 2006, Canada's Blue Sky policy has yielded open, new or expanded air transport agreements with 57 countries.
Bombardier DHC-8-400 Series Requires Repair
An airworthiness directive (AD) issued Monday requires the repair of landing gear systems on all Bombardier Model DHC08-400 Series airplanes.
According to AD FAA- 2011-0470, the right main landing gear (MLG) on a DHC-8 Series 400 aircraft failed to extend using the alternate gear extension system during an in-service incident reported to the FAA.
If the MLG fails to extend and lock, it could have an adverse affect on safely landing the airplane.
