Jan. 18, 2010 Joshua Tree National Park, CA CESSNA 172M N13073 A/c collided with upsloping mountainous terrain while maneuvering in southerly direction over Joshua Tree National Park, about 14 miles SE of community of Joshua Tree, CA. Two serious A/c was at 6,100 feet mean sea level (msl). To positively identify the a/c, FAA issued pilot a discrete transponder code. Pilot acknowledged receipt of transponder code. FAA said seconds later, as controller was in process of identifying a/c's position on radar, target disappeared at 5,600 feet msl. No further communications with a/c, which appeared to have been flying in southerly direction.
Jan 18, 2010 La Veta, CO MOONEY M20R N782LU A/c substantially damaged after catching fire during taxi for takeoff at Cuchara Valley Airport (07V), La Veta, CO. One minor Pilot had just made a turn during taxi and heard a "pop" and saw smoke and flames coming from engine area. He stopped a/c, shut down engine, and exited a/c as fuselage became engulfed in flames.
Jan 26, 2010 Russellville, AR BEECH J35 N647T Pilot attempted to start single-engine a/c via electric starter, but was unsuccessful. So pilot elected to rotate propeller by hand, to "loosen up" engine enough to start. When pilot rotated propeller, engine inadvertently started and unoccupied airplane accelerated forward, until it impacted open T-hangar. A/c received substantial damage, T-hangar was damaged, and parked airplane received minor damage.
Feb 04, 2010 Restauracion, Dominican Republic, Dominican Republic ROBINSON R44 N7535F A/c impacted side of Mount Jina Mocha, in city of Restauracion, Dominican Republic, at night, while en route from Port Au Prince, Haiti to Cibao International Airport, Santiago, Dominican Republic. Two fatalities Pilot and passenger killed. The helicopter was destroyed by impact forces and post impact fire.
Feb 04, 2010 Dolan Springs, AZ PIPER PA-32R-301T N1060X A/c experienced in-flight fire near Dolan Springs, AZ. About 30 minutes into flight, at altitude of 9,500 feet mean sea level (msl), pilot became aware of smell of fuel. A few seconds later the smell became "overwhelming" and was accompanied by a sensation of deceleration. Pilot reported that engine did not run rough. He immediately retarded throttle, and initiated descent with intention of making forced landing. During descent turned off fuel boost pump, and as approached landing spot he shut off master switch, and pulled fuel mixture aft. No injuries As he flared a/c for landing, black smoke began to stream from front of a/c.. After landing, pilot/passenger immediately egressed s/c. Smoke continued to billow from engine compartment for additional 5 minutes, followed by fire, which ultimately consumed a/c.
Feb 05, 2010 El Paso, TX AEROSPATIALE AS350 B2 ECUREUIL N157BC A/c destroyed upon impact with terrain while maneuvering in McGregor Military Range, 23 miles NE of El Paso, TX. Helicopter operated by Enchantment Aviation, Southwest Med Evac. Omniflight Helicopter owns Enchantment Aviation. Flight departed El Paso International Airport (KELP). EMS contract with U.S. Army. A/c attempting to pick up a soldier to simulate transporting injured Army personnel. Flight was to use night vision goggles (NVGs) and standard company practice would be for the pilot and paramedic seated in left aft seat to be on NVGs. Helicopter arrived to the S of accident site and made two right turn orbits. Three fatalities The flight was conducted under an The Helicopter seen turning on and panning white spot light during these orbits. Personnel on ground attempted to make radio contact with a/c but were not successful, so began utilizing illumination to signal the a/c. The helicopter was then observed to make a third orbit which was wider than the first two. During third orbit, helicopter banked approximately 45 degrees and entered a steep nose down attitude before impacting ground.
Feb 06, 2010 Boulder, CO PIPER PA25 N8781L Cirrus SR20 collided with N8718L, a Piper PA-25-235 airplane, while the Piper was conducting glider tow operations with N2472W, a Schweizer SGS 2- 32 glider, near Boulder, CO. According to statement taken from the pilot of the Schweizer, the Piper and the Schweizer were in a climb attitude, on an approximate heading of west. Three fatalities Cirrus was heading south. Pilot of Schweizer observed Cirrus on perceived impact collision course with towline and he released towline connection between Schweizer and Piper. Cirrus impacted Piper, shortly thereafter. Schweizer flew through ball of fire; however, pilot was able to return to KBDU shortly thereafter. Glider not damaged during sequence of events.

Feb 07, 2010 Mesa, AZ NANCHANG CHINA CJ6 N6263D A/c experienced loss of engine power and force landed in park near Falcon Field Airport, Mesa, AZ. Pilot said 30 minutes into what was planned to be a 45-minute flight, began to feel the engine vibrating. Turned a/c back to Falcon Field, and as joined downwind leg pilot heard loud, "bang." One minor Engine then lost power and was no longer able to maintain altitude. Pilot then made 180-degree turn with intention of landing in adjacent park. During final approach, observed someone walking on his intended landing area; he banked a/c to the left and landed, during ground roll the a/c collided with restroom facility on park property.
Feb 14, 2010 Phoenix, AZ Eurocopter RC135 A/c crashed north of Phoenix. Passengers were flying from Flagstaff to Scottsdale. Five fatalities NTSB said there was debris trail leading up to crash site, indicating that pieces of the a/c had come off. NTSB said the pieces appeared to come from one of the helicopter's rotors.
Feb. 15. 2010 Monmouth, NJ Cessna 337 The a/c preparing to land broke apart and nose-dived into a snowy field short of Monmouth Executive Airport. The a/c was registered to Jack Air of Wilmington, DE. Five fatalities A witness said the a/c was coming in for a landing, but the pilot attempted to abort. Something -- possibly the tail of the plane -- broke off. The a/c veered to the right and nose-dived into a snowy field alongside a runway.
Feb. 17, 2010 Eat Palo Alto, CA Cessna 310 A/c crashed in residential neighborhood. House was damaged and three cars destroyed. No reports of injuries on ground. FAA records showed a/c registered to Air Unique of Santa Clara. Three fatalities A/c had departed Palo Alto Airport bound for Hawthorne Municipal Airport. FAA said there were reports that a/c hit electrical tower or wires on takeoff. There was also thick fog where a/c crashed.
Feb. 17, 2010\ Amarillo, TX Piper PA-30 A/c crashed into concrete storage building. A/c departed Tradewind Airport. Two fatalities Witness at the scene told investigators it sounded as if the plane's engine's stalled,
Feb. 18, 2010 Austin, TX Piper Cherokee PA-28 The pilot slammed his a/c into a building in Austin after setting his house on fire. The FAA said plane departed Georgetown Municipal Airport north of Austin. Witnesses described a crash that shook nearby buildings and sent fire and smoke bellowing into the sky. at least three fatalities The building is a federal IRS center with 199 employees. Joseph Andrew Stack, identified by authorities as the man who crashed his plane, had a website in which he bitterly complained about the IRS. He set his house on fire hefore taking off on his suicide mission.
