TSA in Accident Investigations?
For the first time, the Transportation Security Administration became involved in an aviation accident, according to a report by the Associated Press. At the request of Comair, TSA reviewed legal documents in an effort to redact any information that could compromise aviation security procedures. A TSA spokesperson said the agency's role was prompted by the overlapping safety and security procedures in manuals. Nearly 40,000 pages of legal documents that are part of the lawsuit filed by families of the 49 people killed in the crash, have been reviewed to ensure security procedures are not disclosed.
