Reauthorization Axes 64 Communities from EAS

Any Essential Air Service point within 230 miles of a large or medium hub will be eliminated from the program under the proposed reauthorization legislation, according to Regional Aviation Partners. As usual, the bill shortchanged the program with only a $50 million authorization beginning in FY2009, something that has been overturned by Congress every year.
