Phoenix Airport to Launch Aerobahn System
Phoenix is equipping its Sky Harbor International Airport with the Saab Sensis Aerobahn airport surface management system. The system will be used to manage airport resources, planning and responsiveness during adverse weather conditions.
Airport operations personnel will also use the system to manage the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Tarmac Delay Rule, to alert staff three to four hours in advance of an approaching aircraft. Saab Sensis said its system has resulted in a reduction of aircraft emissions and delayed flight arrivals at other airports where it has been deployed.
"Aerobahn provides the City of Phoenix with the same platform and Decision Support Tools already in use by the airport's largest carrier, US Airways, to foster greater collaboration and operational efficiencies," said Ken Kaminski, senior vice president of Saab Sensis.
