More Cuts at Midwest

Despite recent moves to shore up the ailing carriers, Midwest Airlines said 200 additional employees will be laid off in November including 73 pilos and 82 flight attendants as well as about 31 others, mostly mechanics. The news comes a week after the airline cut a capital infusion deal with Republic through which the regional would take over some flying with the 12 ERJ 170s it once used in the Frontier Jet Express operation. Related Story  In a letter to Wisconsin’s labor department, the company said it hopes to recall the employees within eight to 12 months, according to the Associated Press. The layoffs come after its previous move to cut 1,200 jobs, 40 percent of its workforce.
