LCC Uses RJs for new Pensacola Service

Using regional jets, USAirways will be providing the first year-round, nonstop service between Pensacola and Washington, DC. It filed an application with the DOT Wednesday. While the route is seasonal, LCC cited a regional population of 400,000 and said it was underserved. It said its plan to alternate aircraft between aircraft using the Embraer 170 during the winter and the larger ERJ 175 in the summer. If approved, the new route will complement the airline’s current service between Pensacola and Charlotte.
