JetBlue, Cape Air Team Up
In the second code-sharing agreement between a low-cost carrier and a regional airline, Cape Air has teamed with JetBlue to get passengers to Cape Cod out of Boston. The partnership includes the islands surrounding the Cape and starts March 19 when Cape Air’s flights will fly under JetBlue’s code. Frontier originally teamed with Horizon and is now working with Republic Airways. Cape Air is also part of the Continental Connection network on routes in New England, Florida, the Caribbean and Micronesia. The two carriers share a terminal at BOS and the agreement affords the ability for passengers to have a single ticket and transfer baggage between the two carriers. JetBlue offers 20 destinations out of BOS while Cape Air has four, including Hyannis, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Provincetown. During non-peak travel, fares could drop between $30 to $40. Passengers will transfer from JetBlue’s aircraft to the Cessna 402 operated by Cape Air. JetBlue is also planning seasonal Kennedy-Nantucket service with its Embrear (ERJ) 190s, launching May 24 and ending September 24.
