The order backlog is the highest level since the third quarter 2009, when Embraer reported a backlog of $18.6 billion. During the third quarter 2013, Embraer delivered 19 total commercial jets and 25 business jets, for a total of 44 deliveries, up from 40 jets delivered during the same period a year ago.
The company's biggest announcement of the quarter was a firm order for 50 of its E2 series jets, a $2.85 billion purchase at current list prices. The E2, Embraer's second generation of its flagship regional E-Jets, is scheduled to enter service in 2019.
