ERJ 190 in Distance Record with JBLU
JetBlue flew a new ERJ 190 distance record last week when it flew the 2,694 nm flight between Anchorage and Buffalo as part of a repositioning flight back to its base at JFK. Of course, it helped that the aircraft had no passengers or luggage on the six-hour-11-minute flight. Normally, JBLU uses the A320 on long-haul missions with the Embraer ERJ 190’s longest passenger flight being JFK-Austin at 1,476 miles. The aircraft, under charter to the McCain campaign, was returning home from its duty dropping off Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin in time to vote in last week’s election. The aircraft, in McCain-Palin livery is scheduled for the paint shop shortly after its two-month long charter mission during which it covered 100+ flight to 29 states.
