Delta Acquires More Airbus Jets

Woodrow Bellamy III

[Aviation Today June 2, 2014] Delta Airlines placed an order for 15 additional A321ceo (current engine option) aircraft, a $1.65 billion order at current list prices.

The Atlanta, Ga.-based carrier is looking to replace some of its older aircraft with the more fuel efficient A321s, powered by the CFM56-5B engines.
"“The A321’s economic efficiency and product offering relative to the aircraft they will replace ensures that this opportunistic transaction will enhance profitability," said Nathaniel Pieper, vice president of fleet strategy and transactions at Delta.

Delta's first A321 with in-flight Wi Fi and live satellite TV will begin flying in 2016, while the newly ordered A321s will begin deliveries in 2018, according to Airbus.
