Comair Cuts Back Again
Delta’s plans for Cincinnati were revealed yesterday when it announced it would cut flights by 12 percent at CVG in January as part of a hub restructuring there in an effort increase profitability and sustainability. The changes mean layoffs at subsidiary Comair, despite the airline’s heavier reliance on regional flying at the hub. Comair will furlough 150 pilots early next year, having already furloughed 330 pilots and flight attendant beginning last month. Its flying is expected to be down 33 percent in January. Delta said it will revisit Cincinnati but, for the next year, it is committed to keeping the hub.
