Another Lawsuit for Mesa
While some may think that the courthouse is no place to resolve disputes, it seems Mesa is not one of them. Indeed, it is keeping its lawyers very busy with the various lawsuits for and against it. In addition to the pending suit against it by Aloha, it has its own suit against Mokulele Airlines, its go! Express partner which recently cut a deal with Republic Holdings Inc. Related Story It also has a suit against Delta for cancelling subsidiary Freedom Airline’s capacity purchase agreement. Now, it is facing a countersuit by Mokulele alleging anti-competitive behavior which was filed in U.S. District Court in Hawaii this week. Mokulele says Mesa Air Group threatened to drive it out of business by ending payments due under the go!Express agreement.
"(Mesa's) misconduct is part of a plan to run (Mokulele) out of business so that (Mesa) will be one of only two main airlines in the interisland market," said Mokulele in its suit. It also said that Mesa Air Group CEO Jonathan Ornstein threatened Mokulele CEO Bill Boyer after the Republic deal was announced. "Mokulele is done,” said Ornstein according to court papers. “We are going to bury you."
