Airbus Completes A350 Development Fleet

Woodrow Bellamy III

[Aviation Today June 23, 2014] The fifth and final member of the Airbus A350 XWB flight testing program, MSN005, has entered the Airbus development fleet, which is now complete with five test aircraft. MSN005 is the second passenger cabin-equipped A350, and will be tasked with "route proving" and Extended Operations With Two-Engine Airplanes (ETOPS) certification testing. Airbus said the latest test aircraft most closely embodies the operationally definitive configuration for the A350 XWB.

So far, the A350 program has achieved more than 2,000 flight hours with nearly 500 flights and the aircraft is on schedule for its first delivery to launch customer Qatar Airways in the fourth quarter of this year.
