Airbus Accelerates A320 Production Rate
[Aviation Today Feb. 26, 2014] Airbus announced its plan to increase production of the A320 family aircraft from the current rate of 42 per month to 46 by the second quarter of 2016.
The manufacturer has already been increasing production over the past five years, from 36 per month in 2010 to 42 in the fourth quarter of 2012.
“With a record backlog of over 4,200 A320 family aircraft and the growing success of the NEO [New Engine Option], we have a solid case to increase our monthly output," said Tom Williams, executive vice president of programs at Airbus.
