In a new twist to its hostile takeover bid for Midwest Air Group (MEH), AirTran sued its takeover target for the release of its shareholder list. It accused MEH of trying to block the deal. After reviewing the initial offer of $290 million, MEH rejected it but has yet to respond to a later $345 million offer which expires tomorrow. AirTran cites New York State law, it says MEH is violating. The Supreme Court in New York is set to hear the case on the 30th. Meanwhile, MEH said it has mailed out the latest offer to its shareholders, but is not interested in releasing its list.
