ALPA Pilot Initiative a Web Success

Having launched www.DoIHaveAFutureHere.org, the Air Line Pilots Association reported it is a huge success with 51,000 hits in the first week from 23 states and 18 countries. The most traffic, it said, came from Air Wisconsin pilots who have used the airline’s server to log on and spend “hours” on the site, said ALPA, which noted that the new site has been covered in on numerous Web boards, “including expressjetpilots.com, airlinepilotforums.com, flightinfo.com, eaglelounge.com, mesahub.com, jetcareers.com as well as the Air Wisconsin QuickTakes on airlinepilotcentral.com.
ALPA is scheduled to meet with Air Wisconsin management concerning outstanding grievances including the unilateral changes to the commuter policy, automated trip-trading and the attendance program. In addition, it is set to meet with Jim Rankin to discuss the overall goals of its DoIHaveACareerHere initiative. It sent a letter to Air Whiskey pilots which launched Phase II of the initiative – which includes media outreach as well as informational picketing. Pilots will use red pens, supplied by ALPA “as a visible part of the uniform” to telegraph their support of its initiative. “The red ink is to demonstrate our continuing frustration with our working conditions and our unified resolve to change them,” said the union.
