Sukhoi Books First Western Order

After booking orders from Aeroflot, Sukhoi announced its first western customer for its Superjet 100-95s. Italian regional, Itali Airlines, ordered 10 with options for another 10, scheduled for delivery between 2009 and 2011. The 20-plane deal is worth $283 million and brings the total order book to 71. The Superjet is expected to be rolled out in September. The manufacturer expects to sell 700 aircraft that has Boeing participation and includes partnership with Italy’s Alenia Aeronautica which now holds a 25 percent stake in the project. It has targeted North America for 35 percent, 25 percent to Europe and seven percent to Russia and China. For a complete report see the June 25 issue of Regional Aviation News.
