Dornier Ends 328 Production, Forms 328 Support Services
Serial Number 3220 became the final production aircraft of the Dornier 328 jet as its rolled out of the Oberpfaffenhofen plant on its way to Icelandic operator Nordic Wings, registered as TF-PNA. It is operating on the certificate of City Star Airlines, which has bases in Reykjavik and Aberdeen, UK. Delivered in late March, it is now available for European charters fitted as an 'Envoy,' in full business class 14-seat layout (eight club seats and six regular seats). It also has been extensively modified to incorporate steep approach, flight level 35, plus extended-range capability.
The company also announced the formation of 328 Support Services GmbH as the newly registered engineering, design, customer support and third-party maintenance organization to ensure the long-term future of the Dornier 328 Jet and 328 Turboprop. Created in January 2006 as the new German subsidiary of the UK's Corporate Jet Services Ltd, 328 Support Services holds the type certificate for the Dornier 328 jet and turboprop aircraft, plus the Dornier 428 . It will be carrying on the worldwide support of a fleet in excess of 200 aircraft. Corporate Jet Services Ltd purchased the former AvCraft Aerospace GmbH in January this year. Corporate Jet Services owns 328 Support Services GmbH; executive jet operator Club328, and engineering company Jet Engineering Technical Support (J.E.T.S.), based at Southampton Airport, UK. It also owns EuroManx, the Isle of Man-based regional airline. There are about 60 Dornier 328 aircraft parked in the US and Europe.
