Traffic Report

American Eagle (American Eagle, Executive)

Systemwide, RPMs for American Eagle, including Executive Airlines, rose 12.7 percents to 826 million in June, compared to June 2005. ASMs rose 5.5 percent to 1.02 billion while load factor increased 5.2 points to 80.5 percent. Enplanements rose 8.5 percent to 1,988,246. Executive Airlines experienced a 5.7 percent rise in RPMs to 52,733 million. ASMs rose one percent to 79.4 million and load factor increased three percent to 66.4. It experienced an increase of 6.3 percent in enplanements, to 256,902.

Year to date, American Eagle reported a 17.8 percent in RPMs to 4.4 billion, while ASMs rose 10 percent to six billion. Load factor increased 4.9 points to 73.8 percent. Enplanements showed an increase of 8.6 percent to 10,665,592. At the same time, Executive reported a 1.9 percent increase in RPMs to 294.5 million, while ASMs dropped 2.3 percent to 467.7 million. Load factor rose 2.6 points to 63 percent and enplanements increased 8.6 percent to 1,411,150.

Continental Express (Express Jet, Commutair)

Continental Express carriers flew 951 million RPMs during June, up 18 percent from the year-ago period. ASMs jumped 10 percent to 1.1 billion, while load factor rose 5.5 points to 82.2 percent. Passenger enplanements increased 16.1 percent to 1,681,582. Year to date, Continental Express regionals flew 5.02 billion RPMs, up 20.3 percent, while ASMs, rose 12 percent to 6.4 billion. Load factor rose 5.5 points to 78.3 percent and enplanements increased 17.9 percent to 8,956,981.

Express Jet

Express Jet (XJT), operating as a Continental Express, reported increased traffic and capacity for June 2006 when RPMs totaled 948 million, up 17.6 percent over June 2005. ASMs increased by 9.4 percent during the period when load factor rose 5.7 percent to 82.4 percent. The company flew 79,765 block hours, up 11.3 percent from the year-ago period. Year to date, Continental Express's RPMs rose 20.2 percent to 5.04 billion, while ASMs rose 11.7 percent to 6.44 billion. Load factor rose 5.5 percent to 78.3 percent. Block hours rose 12 percent to 446,425.

Mesa (America West, Delta, United, US Airways)

Mesa Air Group (MESA) reported a 5.6 percent increase in RPMs to 617.8 million during June compared to June 2005. The results include its new Hawaiian operation go!, which had an 82.5 percent load factor with its introductory fares. Otherwise, Mesa did not report go!'s results separately. Systemwide, ASMS were down by 2.8 percent, to 765.3 million. It carried 1,348,701 passengers during the month, an increase of 11.8 percent. Load factor rose 6.4 points to 80.7 percent.

Year to date, the carrier increased RPMs 10.3 percent to 3.4 billion from the same 2005 period, while ASMs rose only three percent to 4.4 billion. Enplanements rose 12.2 percent to 7,356,756 and load factor increased five points to 75.4 percent.

The airline attributed the results to particularly harsh weather during the month, when severe thunderstorms and traffic control disruptions afflicted both Midwest and East Coast operations.

Northwest Airlink (Mesaba, Pinnacle)

Northwest Airlink carriers flew 490 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in June 2006, a 14.4 percent drop from June 2005. Suffering from the continuing woes of Northwest Airlines (NWACQ), the regional partners flew nearly 614 available seat miles (ASMs), down 19.2 percent from the year-ago period. Regional load factor reached 79.9 percent, up 4.5 points from June 2005. However, passenger enplanements dropped 8.6 percent to 1,172,879. For the second quarter of 2006, Northwest Airlink RPMs dropped 7.5 percent to 1.4 billion while ASMs were down 16.3 percent to 1.8 billion. Load factor improved 7.5 points to 78.4 percent. Year to date, regionals flew 2.8 billion RPMs, down 6.5 percent while ASMs dropped 11.9 percent to 3.8 billion. Load factor for the period rose 7.2 points to 74.3 percent. During the period, regional passenger enplanements totaled 6,584,441, down 0.7 percent.
