Supply Side

Ross Aviation

Ross Aviation and Centre Partners recently purchased Scottsdale AirCenter at the Scottsdale Airport in Arizona. The deal is the second fixed base operator that Ross Aviation has purchased since it was formed last December. The three-year-old facility includes 11.6 acres with 77,000 square feet of hangar space and a 22,000-square- foot executive terminal. The deal includes space to build an additional 95,000 square feet of hangar space and 35,00 square feet of office space. Ross Aviation has more than 20 year of FBO ownership and management experience. Centre Partners is a New York-based investment bank specializing in middle-market private equity transactions.

American Science and Engineering

American Science and Engineering [ASEI] was recently awarded a $722,000 contract from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to upgrade its Z Backscatter personnel screening system. The system can detect a broad range of threats, both metallic and non-metallic weapons, as well as explosives. Part of the TSA grant will be used to develop software to protect an individual's privacy as they are being scanned.

AeroCentury

AeroCentury [ACY] posted a second quarter profit of $45,870, or 3 cents per share, on revenue of $2.8 million. AeroCentury, an independent aircraft leasing company, did not sell any aircraft in the first half of 2005. It incurred a $60,000 loss on the sale of engines in February. A year ago, the company earned $50,110, or 3 cents per share, on sales of $2.3 million.

Willis Lease

Willis Lease Finance Corp. [WLFC] earned $1.6 million, or 17 cents per share, on sales of $18 million. A year ago, the company earned $915,000, or a dime a share, on sales of $15 million. In the last quarter, 92.3 percent of its portfolio of engines was leasesd compared to 89.5 percent in the same period of 2004. The company's current portfolio consists of 113 commercial jet engines valued at $496.3 million.

Sabre

Sabre Holdings Corp. [TSG] renewed its direct connect availability with US Airways [UAIRQ] for one additional year. The carrier elected to use the service for one more year beyond its initial three-year contract. US Airways was the first to sign a three-pact when Sabre began offering them in 2002. The contract requires US Airways to provide Sabre access to all its published fares, including its Web fares, in exchange for lower fees.

First Environment

First Environment won the 2005 Environmental Achievement Award from the Airports Council International-North America for its work at the Westchester County Airport in New York. The award recognizes the work that First Environmental did to help Westchester meet the internationally sanctioned ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard. Westchester is only the third U.S. airport to meet the ISO 14001 standards.
