Sukhoi Gets Financing, Alenia Gets Partner on Interiors
As part of the 12th Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum, State Corporation ‘Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)’ and Sukhoi Company signed two credit agreements totaling $61 million and 34 million Euros for a period of eight years. In addition, Alenia and PininfarinaExtra (Pininfarina Group) have partnered to develop interiors for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 program.
These funds are meant to further promote the Sukhoi Superjet 100 Program. The agreements were signed by Vnesheconombank’s Chair Vladimir Dmitriev and Mikhail Pogosyan, director general of Sukhoi Company. Under the agreements Vnesheconombank is to act as a creditor for the development of the Sukhoi Superjet 100.
The long-term partnership between Alenia Aeronautica, a Finmeccanica company, and Pininfarina Extra covers the development of new-conception interiors to be offered as an option on the Superjet 100. The partnership covers testing, aerodynamics, mock-up, and 3D animations.
The two are working on passenger requirements using scientific, technological and engineering research to gain the maximum biometric comfort.
“Fundamental is the passenger’s first impression when seeing the aircraft’s interior: wider, more comfortable and relaxing as compared to those of the other aircraft of the same category,” according to the two companies, which pointed to cabin height of 2.12 meters and a luggage bay per passenger of 0.065 cubic meters. “Inside the cabin: ceiling design, different colours and shades of lighting generated by LED systems, varying during the several flight phases, colour balances, materials, lines, finishing details and sober and elegant settings will increase comfort and well being perception.”
With five-across seating, the seats will be among the largest ever installed on regional transport aircraft (32’’ pitch), thanks also to a fuselage 45 centimetres larger than competitive aircraft, said Alenia. Cabin windows (27x38 centimeters) are larger and service instrumentation for passengers will have with new graphics for light switches, hostess call and air conditioning vents. Overhead luggage bays are larger than that of similarly sized aircraft and Boeing and Airbus narrow-bodies
Aisles for tourist class measure 51 centimeters in width, more than other regional aircraft and about three centimeters more than narrow bodies.
The final launch of the development of the Pininfarina cabin will be confirmed in September with a common agreement between Sukhoi and Alenia Aeronautica.
