Regionals at NBAA

Kathryn Creedy

Amidst the glitz and the glam of the National Business Aircraft Association show, tucked away in a couple of corner booths, were ExpressJet and Pinnacle, each with their own mission. Also on hand was Saab, which has been successful in serving the NASCAR charter market which ExpressJet just entered.
But conspicuous by its absence was Comair which has launched new services that include airport handling and maintenance repair and overhaul. However, it is focusing on regional equipment, but, then, again, so is ExpressJet.
Pinnacle is looking for pilots – along with the rest of the industry – and as its rep said, “you’ve got to go where the pilots are.” XJT, on the other hand, is here to promote its non-airline side of the business – maintenance, repair and overhaul and its newly burgeoning charter business. A year ago, its charter business was still in its fledgling stages as the airline looked around for new business opportunities for the 69 Embraer 145s that were coming off the Continental Express contract. The company just landed full, 36-week, season contracts for a couple of NASCAR racing teams, adding them to their portfolio of charter clients. It also signed recently to provide charter flights for Virgin Charter.
ExpressJet Services, LLC, said the company, delivers proven reliability and fast turnaround for off-aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). This month, ExpressJet Services attained the internationally recognized Aerospace Standard (AS 9110) and International Standards Organization (ISO 9001) certification. The certification documents ExpressJet's establishment and maintenance of a stringent, internationally recognized Quality Management System for aircraft inspection, alteration and repair, aircraft sheet metal/composite repair, thrust reverser repair and overhaul. ExpressJet Services earned AS 9110 / ISO 9001 certification for its Houston, Shreveport and Alcoa, Tenn., locations.
"Achieving AS9110 certification is the result of ExpressJet's dedicated focus on customer satisfaction, quality and continual improvement of its processes," said Bob McConnell, staff vice president of ExpressJet Services LLC.
