Quick Takes
- The Regional Airline Association (RAA) through its RAA Scholarship Foundation will offer two aviation students $750 scholarships. Following an application deadline of Oct. 15, RAA will award the scholarships at its Nov. 3 fall membership meeting in Washington.
RAA is funding these initial scholarships with the proceeds from the golf tournament it held during its May convention. With the foundation now in place, the association can accept tax-deductible donations from individuals, the airlines and associate members, said RAA President Deborah McElroy.
Students at Averett University and the University of North Dakota - both RAA associate members - are eligible. The universities, not the students, will nominate the scholars for the awards. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, financial need, work experience, recommendations and an essay.

The Community Air Service Coalition (CASC) will hold a networking conference on Dec 6-7 in Orlando. Dubbed 2005 Connections, the meeting will not be a typical conference of presentations and training, but instead will be a structured event with each airport getting a 30-minute meeting with each participating airline. At least 16 airlines have already confirmed their participation. The group was formed earlier this year to preserve and promote scheduled air service to non-hub airports.
