Quick Takes
Embraer Taps Flybe for Commercial Services
Embraer tapped Flybe Aviation Services for a five-year contract, naming the regional aircraft maintenance company as an authorized service center for the ERJ 145 and E-Jets families.
Based in Exeter Airport in the U.K., FAS is an Embraer Parts Pool Program customer, and now joins the company’s aviation services network.
The deal gives FAS, one of the largest regional aircraft maintenance providers in Europe, access to Embraer’s structure-specific repair solutions and extensive database. It will also be entitled to handle airframe and warranty issues, including Flybe, which operates the ERJ 195.
“Flybe Aviation Services will provide qualified maintenance for Embraer commercial jets.
We see this partnership as a very good opportunity to offer our customers a broader network of authorized service centers,” said Leandro Laia, Embraer vice president, customer support and Services – Europe, Africa and the Middle East. “While planning to expand our service center network in the region, we looked for expertise, reputation and competitive prices, in order to offer the best to our customers.”
This contract is a key part of Embraer’s plan to expand its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) network in Europe. The MRO company invested extensively in specific ground support equipment, tools, material, and staff training.
Flybe Aviation Services offers outsourced engineering and structural repairs on turboprops and jets. Its “one-stop shop” philosophy integrates aircraft maintenance programs with a wide range of component repair and overhaul facilities. By providing a design department with major and minor modification capabilities, the company offers fleet customization and cost effective compliance with continually changing mandatory requirements. Its services are further enhanced by a JAR147 training Academy, materials and stores management, and complete commercial and technical support.
