Quick Takes

ATA Files Challenge to Congestion Pricing
“Like DOT’s other misguided attempts to foist unproven economic theory on the traveling public, these measures would do nothing to address the underlying causes of congestion and delay and would only make flying more expensive for passengers,” said the Air Transport Association of DOT’s plan to introduce congestion pricing at airports. “The solution to congestion and delay is for the government to modernize its air traffic control system, expand airspace capacity and, in the Northeast, expedite the New York/New Jersey/Philadelphia airspace redesign initiative.”

Saab Aerotech Awards BAE Warehouse Contract
BAE Systems Regional Aircraft won a three-year, £1.5 million contract Saab Aerotech for warehousing services covering aircraft spares for the Saab 340 and Saab 2000 airliners. Saab currently supports some 500 Saab 340 and Saab 2000 airliners that are in service with some 70 customers in 30 countries worldwide.
The contract will be carried out by Regional Aircraft staff at its Spares Logistics Center at Weybridge in Surrey. Saab’s Europe-based spares stock for both aircraft types is in the process of being transferred to Weybridge from the previous spares service provider, Honeywell/Cat Logistics at Hemel Hempstead, Herts. There are approximately 6,500 line items, covering some one million parts. These spares will be housed in a designated pallet racking aisle, protected by a water sprinkler system, offering 1,000 square meters of storage.
