XJT Donates to Returning Vets
ExpressJet donated all the furniture and other assets from its ill-fated branded operations to Lamp Stand Institute and other organizations helping vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The airline found it was not cost effective to recover the assets from the stations closed when branded operation shut down. Related Story
"With the volume of returning service men and women, we in the private sector have to step up and help provide the additional care people need," said Dr. James Dunn, president of Lamp Stand Institute, one of the non-profit organizations that received donated equipment and furniture from ExpressJet. "The generous donation of furniture and other items from ExpressJet's operations throughout the country will go a long way to assist Lamp Stand Institute and its sister agencies provide medical, job-placement and housing services to veterans."
Lamp Stand Institute is part of 108 sister organizations providing assistance to returning veterans. In addition to the Lamp Stand Institute in Texas and Colorado, ExpressJet donations benefited more than a dozen organizations that support returning veterans in the communities ExpressJet served.
"On behalf of everyone at ExpressJet Airlines, I would like to express our gratitude to the communities that were always supportive of our branded service," said Jim Ream, president andCEO. "We also have the deepest respect for those who serve our country in the military. Our people are grateful that, even in the midst of challenging times, we could find an opportunity to assist veterans, and to give back to the communities that welcomed us."

ERJ 190 to Aero Republica
Copa subsidiary, Aero Republica took delivery of its eighth Embraer ERJ 190 adding it to its five MD-80s and seven ERJ 190s. The new aircraft is part of the Aero Republica's fleet modernization and renewal program, which began in 2006 and aims to replace MD-80 aircraft. The new aircraft will be used to serve Aero Republica's domestic and international routes more efficiently. They also will play an important role in Aero Republica's alliance with Copa Airlines in Panama, through the joint expansion of route networks that will provide passengers more destinations and frequencies.

NextJet Takes ATP
NextJet AB of Sollentuna, Sweden acquired three 68-seat ATP passenger turboprop airliners for operations commencing late October on routes linking smaller communities in the north of the country to the capital Stockholm, according to BAE Systems Regional Aircraft.
The three aircraft are being sub-leased from established ATP operator West Air Sweden, who also will provide maintenance and support to the NextJet operation. This is part of a new West Air Sweden strategy to grow its business in partnership with new operators.
Two of the aircraft have already been delivered to NextJet from the existing West Air Sweden fleet. Neither aircraft had been converted into freight configuration. The third aircraft (msn 2023) has been newly leased from BAE Systems to West Air Sweden to cover the NextJet requirement.
NextJet is a regional carrier, currently operating 19-seat Beech 1900D and 34-seat Saab 340A aircraft on a number of domestic routes and also to Copenhagen from Orebro. It also operates a Cessna 560XL on air taxi and executive charter flights.
Its expansion into ATPs is on the back of a three-year contract awarded by the Swedish authorities to fly Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes that were previously operated by another carrier using 50-seat aircraft.
On 25 October, NextJet will commence scheduled ATP service on routes linking Arvidsjaur and Lycksele to Stockholm Arlanda; from Gallivare to Arlanda; and from Hemavan and Vilhelmina to Arlanda.
