NATA Creates Air Charter Safety Foundation
With the growth of charters as well as the advent of very light jet charter services, the National Air Transportation Association has created the Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF), a non-profit organization, recently created to enhance the safety and security of air charters worldwide. The organization appointed Lindsey McFarren director of the new organization. The National Transportation Safety Board has an outstanding recommendation to improve crew resource management for Part 135 (air taxi) operations.
"One of the most important tasks of the Air Charter Safety Foundation will be to collect and analyze better data as it relates to on-demand air charter and fractional operations," said McFarren.
ACSF's work includes research, collaboration and education to advance charter industry standards and best practices, promulgate safety, security and service benchmarks, and promote the universal acceptance of safety management systems. The ACSF will also provide objective, accurate information about air charter providers as a public transportation resource.
Most recently, McFarren was NATA's manager of regulatory affairs responsible for charter and flight training issues. She will continue to serve as the association's point person on flight training issues.
