Lease Rentals of Most Regional Jets Enjoy Rise

The lease rentals of most regional jets, including those of the 50 seaters, have continued to climb. Because production of the 50 seaters continues in name only, operators are forced to the used market. Despite the operating economics of the 50 seats suffering through the high price of fuel, the CRJ200 and ERJ145 still have a vital role to play both in terms of existing operators and those seeking to expand services.
The European market remains the more attractive option for the leasing of aircraft owing to smaller quantities, higher specifications and a more fluid market not necessarily driven by tax issues. To see an aircraft-by-aircraft analysis see the August 8 issue of Aircraft Value News.
