JetBlue Gets Its First Embraer This Month
JetBlue [JBLU], which will take delivery of the first Embraer [ERJ] 190 on Aug. 24, will initially dispatch the 100-seat plane to those markets currently served by its 156-seat Airbus 320, said spokesman Todd Burke. In early September, the carrier will announce the routes that the Embraer 190 will begin flying on Nov. 1. Burke said these planes would either be supplementing the Airbus on existing routes or would provide new point-to-point flying between existing JetBlue markets.
While the company has 100 new planes on order, it anticipates having eight in operation by year's end.
