Embraer 190, 195 Certificated

The 108- to 118-seat Embraer (ERJ) 195 airliner, received type certification June 30, from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), the newly created airworthiness authority that replaces Brazil's Centro T飮ico Aeroespacial (CTA). Shortly thereafter, the 100-seat ERJ 190 was certificated by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The latter certification paves the way for the aircraft to enter service with European operators Finnair and R駩onal (Air France's regional subsidiary).

The largest of the Embraer 170/190 family, the 195 is expected to be certificated by the EASA shortly, paving the way for the first deliveries to low-cost UK airline Flybe which ordered 14 Embraer 195s. Other customers with firm orders for the Embraer 195 are GECAS, Royal Jordanian and Swiss Air.

Owing to the commonality with the 190, only 475 flight hours on two 195s were necessary to complete the Brazilian certification campaign, including development and certification flight tests. The 195 is the last member of the E-Jets family to be granted type certification. The final configuration was lighter, resulting in better than expected fuel burn.
