Comings and Goings - People in the News
- As part of its year-long restructuring program Embraer (ERJ) has appointed six people to complete its Europe, Middle East and Africa sales team for its executive jets. The structure splits the team along geographic lines. Simon Burrows represents the team in Northern Europe, while Robert Posselt is responsible for Phenom sales in Central Europe. Neil Patton operates in central and eastern Europe, while Lynton Van Aswegen takes on Africa. Tony Fitzpatrick is responsible for the Middle East, and Nikolay Goloviznin is responsible for Russian sales.
- United (UAUA), as part of its effort to consolidate its airport operations and cargo divisions, has named Scott Dolan, formerly senior vice president-cargo, to lead the new division. The company also named Alex Marren, vice president-operational services, responsible for all operational aspects of United Express and Ted, as well as systems operations control, dispatch and operations analysis for United. The company is eliminating the senior vice president-airport operations position.
- Markus Kopp was named director of the Central German Airports Group, succeeding Volkmar Stein, who was named president of the group. Kopp joins the airports group from his post at Lufthansa's center for aviation services and human resources.
- Melanie Alvord was appointed the new assistant staff director for administration and communications for the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. One of six new staffers, Alvord joined the committee in 2005, when she was named communications director. She is replaced by Aaron Saunders, who was previously deputy communications director. Mark Delich, who has been with the committee since 2003, has been promoted to professional staff member, handling a variety of technology, consumer affairs and transportation security issues. He was previously a staffer for the communications subcommittee. Steve Wackowski was promoted from staff assistant to research assistant for the full committee, where he works on issues handled by the Disaster Prevention and Prediction, National Ocean Policy Study, Oceans and Fisheries and Global Climate Change subcommittees. Megan Beechener becomes the committee's new executive assistant from her position as staff assistant for the full committee. Finally, Rebecca Hooks was named nominations clerk and will serve as the primary contact for all nominations under the committee's jurisdiction.
