Colgan Air Pilots Join ALPA
Colgan Air pilots selected the Air Line Pilots Association, Int'l (ALPA) to represent the 449 pilots at the airline, according to the National Mediation Board which reported that 313 pilots voted in favor of the union’s representation. Prior to the election, the Colgan pilots were unrepresented.
"We thank all of our pilots who took the time to find out more about ALPA and to cast their vote in the election,” said Capt. Mark Segaloff, one of the leaders of the Colgan Air Pilots ALPA Organizing Committee. “It is now our duty as Colgan pilots to take the unity we have built, along with ALPA's vast resources, and transfer that into negotiating a contract that we deserve." Colgan Air operates as Continental Connection, United Express, and US Airways Express from numerous bases in the Northeast and Texas.
Pinnacle Airlines Corp. parent company of Colgan Air Inc., issued a statement on the vote. "We respect our pilots and, given the choice they have made, expect to work with them toward the mutual goal of growth and prosperity for all employees and our airline, and quality service to our customers," said Colgan President George A. (Buddy) Casey.
