Aircraft Deals

  • Republic Airways Holdings placed a firm order for 13 Embraer [ERJ] 170s. The deal is worth $325 million. The company's new operating unit, Republic Airways, is expected to fly the 70-seat regional jet as a United Express carrier. Embraer expects to start deliveries in the third quarter. The airline also holds options for 37 addition Embraer 170s. It expects to confirm an additional firm order of 12 planes by July 1. The entire deal is worth $1.25 billion.
  • ATR signed a five-year lease with Airlinair, a French regional carrier, for five second-hand ATR 42-500s. Airlinair currently operates 11 ATR 42s and six ATR 72s. Toulouse-based ATR also delivered its seventh ATR 72-500 this month to Air Dolomiti, the Italian regional carrier owned by Lufthansa Group. The 64-seat plane is the second of three the carrier ordered at the end of 2001. The airline now has seven ATR 72-500s and nine ATR 42-500s.
